*SPOILER ALERT*

All the deaths in all three books, discuss them here. Even if they weren't unnecessary (Rue, for instance) what did you feel when they died? Discuss it here.

I felt angry through all of them. I swear, all the books that I read, I think there gonna be good, and BAM! someone dies. I didn't really expect anyone to die in the third one, I don't know why.

I don't think Finnick should've died, he's the character I cried most for :(

I kind of thought that Finnick's death was unnecessary... I could be wrong. Does anyone else see a reason that he had to die?

Shanna That last book was too sad. It was sooo much worse than the last harry potter. I think Gayle might as well've died because of the way he just leaves a ...more

I really don't think Finnick needed to die, but I don't think he necessarily needed to live either. I think Finnick's death adds some tragedy to the story. Not that there's not enough already.

FINNICK. Seriously, though, it's like she just killed him off because things would be too good for him and Annie. I mean, think about it. Everyone else would be dead or grieving and then Finnick would go back to Annie and they'd have the baby. He would have gotten the happiest ending out of any of the people in the book had he lived.

I don't mind any of the other character's deaths though. Prim's bothers a lot of people but she just didn't have enough character development for me to actually get attached to her.

FINNICK!! I cried and cried and (this sounds harsh) didn't even care about Prim after that.

But seriously, he didn't really have to die. I understand the arguement that his death showed the brevity of loss during war, but then I think of Annie and the baby and... :'(

i think some of the deaths were nesesary (like rue she was part of the hunger games shed have to die eventually but it still made me sad) i dont think prim's death was nesesary it really hurt me when she died and rue to they seemed like someone i would be friends with and then they died it really hurt me in the heart

Deaths in books are not unnecessary. People die. And in the Hunger Games books, they're in a war. Those people who died were supposed to die. I loved a lot of them: Rue, Cinna, Finnick, Prim. But they were supposed to die.

I think Finnick death was neccesary really. It was the best way for Collins to highlight the injustice of war without losing a character pivotal to the plot. It seems quite a popular plot device to kill off a prominent but non-vital character to suggest real conflict. I think it's quite successful. Although I agree with other commenters that Prim should be involved more in the story as you find yourself indifferent to her death in the face of characters such as Finnick.

Katnis got on my nerves by the end. I didn't like her much. I think it would have been powerful to have killed her off in that final blast.

Cinna:( He should have been given a better send off. Prim- all that Katniss did for her... just why?

It's War.It's unfair and it's pointless.I know a lot of people complain the most about the death of Finnick(and don't get me wrong I was upset too)but I think that his death was the most necessary. It really shows how unfair and pointless war is.Some people that go to war end up like Finnick and they had kids and wifes and lifes and parents and friends,ect...

Finnick!!! I WAS SO SAD!!! I WANTED TO MARRY HIM!!! it is bad enough that he is a fictional personand things were not going to work out with us but he did not have to die!!
