Jess Mountifield | 165 comments I've been reading a lot more books this last six months or so and have really been getting into reading and reviewing fellow indie authors books, both here and on my blog. Seeing as lots of the lovely people here have helped me out on my journey as an indie author I wanted to return the favour.

So if there is anyone here who would like me to read and review their books please either pm me with a link so I can check it out and buy it, as and when I can afford to, or if you are feeling generous email a kindle version to *books at jessmountifield dot co dot uk*. Please do bear in mind that if you send me a copy I will probably get to it quicker.

I don't read horror or erotica and I'm not a huge fan of paranormal romance but if it's a bit more unique I will consider it. My reviews will be my honest opinion so don't ask me to review if you can't handle the possibility that I don't like it, however I will be reasonable objective, and if I think it's well written but not too my personal tastes it will still get a favourable number of stars.

I hope this post is in the right place. I wasn't entirely sure where to put it but thought an author section was probably best considering that authors will be posting links to their books here.

Books submitted: 25
Books completed: 14
Still to go:11

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments Hi Jess. I'm not sure whether the mods will like this here or not, but it's a cool offer, and thank you very much. If you're interested in my book, it can be found at Something Nice Amazon or in other formats at Something Nice - 10 Stories.

My stories tend to be 'dark' rather than outright horror - depends where your boundaries lie. I don't think of myself as a horror writer, but there's a few icky moments here and there. Either way, I would absolutely love another honest opinion on my work.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Hi Jess,

We do ask that the author zone remains a promo free zone and although we do turn a blind eye to the odd sneaky plug this remains the case.

We have quite a few people in the group who beta read, proof read and review for authors and I am quite sure you will get lots of offers. However, this thread could easily decline into a book list.

Can I suggest interested authors drop you a PM with their proposals.

I will leave your post here as it is certainly in the right place to attract attention.

Good luck. Why not come back to this thread and tell us how you get on.

Andrew..... I won't be deleting your post either... Must have had my blind eye your direction :-)

Yvonne Pat | 42 comments I'm just seeing this and it seems like a lifeline as I am desperately trying to get me and my online book launch which is taking place today to get noticed. I'm going to say to Andrew that if you visited my link www.yvonnepatwright.weebly.com today, you can pick up a copy of my book and get yourself some freebies in the bargain. And Simon, I hope you don't get mad and delete my thread and not tell me where to go to promote details of my today's book launch. I so desperately want to get response from my UK colleagues

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments Yvonne, I promise you that you really don't want me to review any book about having Jesus in your life. While I love cooking with spices, I think our interests kind of diverge after that point.

Yvonne, open an author thread in meet the authors and promote to your hearts content in there.

We really don't want to be heavy handed about moderating but at the same time we don't want every thread to be over run with promos.

I think we'd all get fed up with that pretty quickly, wouldn't we? :)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Hi Yvonne, I don't get mad.... often.

We are pretty relaxed here and there are plenty of places where your books can be promoted. You can start a 'new release' thread in the new releases area. You can promote it until you die of exhaustion in your author thread. We even keep calm when the introductions thread gets a quick plug.

I think there is even somewhere you can tell us it is a freebee (goodness knows where mind!).

We just like one or two places to be mostly free from promotions, and we regularly delete 'drop and run' promotions from authors who join the group, post a single comment about their book and leave never to be seen again.

Otherwise I expect we are the nicest forum in the world to authors.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good grief Simon. You know perfectly well we open a freebies thread every day!

When I say 'we', I mean our lovely Elle, of course. ;)

Yvonne Pat | 42 comments Hey, you guys are not so bad really, even if you try to make out that you are ogres :-) Okay, will see if I can find where to open an authors thread and do my promos there.
Andrew, that's okay. I don't mind. Wonder though if your curiosity could not be aroused enough to see what I say about herbs and spices and about me and forget the rest. Just kidding.
Simon, I pop up on here every so often, but get lost among the threads. And I do read the posts, most of them that is.

Jess Mountifield | 165 comments Ok, I don't want to break any rules so I'll change my top post to ask people to pm me or email and I'll make a separate goodreads book list for anyone who asks so they can see where I'm at with reading without having a thread full of links etc.

Andrew and Yvonne I'll check out both your books.

Jess Mountifield | 165 comments Thought I'd update with how things are going here. I've just finished reading through the first of the books I was offered via this thread. I won't name to avoid breaking rules. I've started on the second and I've three more on the list after that.

I expect to get the next couple done a bit quicker (I took a break from reviewing to read the hunger games trilogy) so feel free to send me more requests peeps.

Alex South (alexsouth) | 55 comments Hi Jess, I will PM you.

message 16: by Jess (new)

Jess Mountifield | 165 comments I've now done 13 from requests here and only have one more to go so if anyone else wants to take me up on this offer now is the time. I'm also going to edit the first post to show where I'm at so anyone at a glance knows how many from here are on my to-read list.

Hi Guy, I've taken a look at your ebook and am interested in reading it, could you please email it to the address in my top post.

Also on a side note, could you please remove the link to your book from your post using the edit feature, just to help keep this thread within the forum rules, as this is a section of the group where promotion's not allowed. Thanks :)

Glad I could help you Andrew, do let me know when you bring out more work :)
