Teenage Goodreads member Matt Fallenangel dixon somehow got a listing as a goodreads author and someone added two books which he did not write.

I don't know why he chose me but he sent me this message:

"Hey lucas i know we havent talked at all but i was needing of some asstiance because i have recently made an authors page and its came up stories i havent wrote.
Would you be able to remove them or do you know how i can ?"

As for the issue of an unpublished author having an author page, all I can do is inform you.

Well, I'm certainly confused. He got a listing as an author because he entered the books into the system. And he definitely wrote both of those Wattpad stories. Any idea if I'm missing something, or...?

But as far as deleting goes, I'm not sure if it's appropriate to delete these, as they certainly are real works of fiction, and one user has already shelved one of them as to-read. I'll leave it up to rivka or another Super.

Hello thank you lucas but the ones that i had deleted were the ones that werent mine and the ones that are now there are surely mine :) and i do hope people will love to read and rate them because it toke me a long time to get the stories right for both stories.

Think of this a more a library which would not remove books from their shelves

Shay - We don't delete any books that have been published (self or not). When your newly published books are announced/released they will be combined with the self-published books as new editions.

Please remove Alan Davidson [food writer] title from list of titles by Alan Davidson [MG/YA fiction author]

At the same time please add to the list the data you have published elsewhere [reviews, ratings etc] for his new fiction title MARINA IN A GREEN DRESS.

I don't believe we're deleting Unknown books yet.

976/988/990: Krystal, I don't want you to think I'm ignoring you I just don't like to delete comics so I'll leave them for someone else.

989: I'm not convinced this book isn't a rescue, the user who is cited as a source for much of the information is not a librarian. And, if she had added the book I don't believe the change log would be empty.

991: We're not deleting these books yet, they may still be rescue-able. I did however update the title/author since it was previously combined.

Thanks Vicky. Policy is that you don't delete individual comics, but you do merge them with the collected books if they are released.

I never delete comics that are not in a collected book.

So 990 needs merging as well.

but the are aren't any information about it but the title and the user which added it hasn't visited since March... it really seems to me pretty useless to keep it.

Even still, after the purge of Amazon data we were left with a lot of seemingly empty editions. It's my understanding that Goodreads was allowed to keep some of that information stored but hidden to users that could allow for later imports to rescue unknown books. Until we're told otherwise, we leave them.

I don't think they're being overlooked...there's just not many librarians that feel comfortable enough to delete the comics. Some of these look like they're different covers, or different volumes that are mixed.

I can't even find a section in the manual that covers comics...although I understand through reading the boards that they're combined differently.

I can just send it to rivka I guess if people are not comfortable.

Or you could wait until rivka has time to get caught up on this thread.

As it happens, I don't think those need combining or deletion.

I though we combine individual issues, but I guess I was mistaken. Also I don't assume that you check every message to make sure that something wasn't overlooked... so my bad.

Not every thread, but I at least skim this one.

For many comics (with little detail, and no real reason to exist separate from the trade), I would merge. Those were added carefully and with great attention to detail.

It did, since it says that the book doesn't exist anymore.
