Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Kimberly, you're welcome and I'm glad to hear your mom is improving! Best wishes for her continued improvement!

We had one heck of another stormy day here yesterday w/awful tropical humidity but we didn't lose power, get water in the kitchen (which was close to happening as the back yard & patio flooded last night) and while the garden looks a bit worse for ware, everything came through alright :o) At one point the rain & wind were so loud last night I felt like I was reliving Hurricane Irene! (I swear that damn hurricane scarred me for life lol!)

Beautiful morning here so far, in the 50s. Clouds are just starting to head out to sea.

Cheryl S. | 3501 comments Crazy day with wild wind. It's been so dry the leaves are flying off the trees and they haven't even turned color yet.

MissJessie I am in Cincinnati for a few days and the day today was as beautiful as could ever be wanted. Not a cloud in the sky; deep blue in color, highs in the mid 60's. A great day for running around doing errands. What I think of as "brilliant". Even driving in the maddening traffic was less distasteful.

Cheryl S. | 3501 comments First day of fall and we are expecting our first frost tonight. I'm ready. I can't keep up with the watering anymore and only saved a couple of my outside pots and one hanging plant that are still beautiful. Picked all the tomatoes and will let them ripen in the house.

Kimberly Comeau (kimberlykcomeau) | 299 comments Oh Cheryl, I am so not ready for cold weather yet. But knowing that you've got frost already, I'll start listening to daily news so I know when to pick all my tomatoes. That will be a sad day for me.

Petra X (petra-x) I wish it would cool down here. September is the hottest month. It's been close to 80 today, that is so draining.

Cheryl S. | 3501 comments We've now had a couple light frosts but it warms up nicely during the day. I'm ignoring my yard and garden until I get back from my trip. My tomatoes still haven't frozen, but the basil and zinnias are toast.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) I've heard lots of frost warnings around the US already!

Autumn 2012 thread is now open!!! Head on over to pick up chat: --> http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
