Aislinn has seen faeries her whole life. She has also followed three rules don't stare at invisible faeries, don't speak to invisible faeries, and don't ever attract their attention. But now that 2 of them have taken a special interest in her the rules have changed. Everything that Aislinn has know and loved is about to change.
This book was just sort of blah for me. It really didn't have a pace, it was just there. Nothing that really grabbed me. I don't think that she built up the relationship between Aislinn and Seth enough. I would have like to see more between them. I did like the way the ending worked out and both Ash and Keenan got to be with the people that they loved. And that the winter queen got what she deserved. I don't think I'll be reading any more of this series.

Great! I honestly don't know how you do that...read two books at once. Especially so close to the end. My personality would never allow it. Once I get past the 1/2 way point, I basically have no self control. I just have to keep reading! ...mussssst....finisssshhhhhh

Tarnished (The St. Croix Chronicles, #1)
by Karina Cooper (Goodreads Author)"
This looks really good! I really enjoyed

I've had this book recommended many times by numerous co-workers at the library so it stands to reason that it is going to be great.
Happy reading everyone!

I get a lot of public transport - it's a three hour round trip to work each day. So I've gotten very used to stopping my reading mid-sentence whenever the train pulls into the station :P Although there are times when I'm so wrapped up in the story that I attempt to keep reading - running into people with my nose in a book and trying to walk at the same time.
And I often have a few books on the go at any time. There's the book that lives in my car, one in the purse, a few next to the couch and some next to my bed. I will never be caught out without a book to read.

Succubus Dreams by Richelle Mead
Week 2: Favourite Series
Completed: July 2nd, 2012
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Review:
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and I liked Succubus Dreams (#3) just as much. I think what I liked most about this book is how modern Georgina is considering that she's thousands of years old. She can adapt to almost any situation and take control. Except, it turns out, when it comes to her romantic relationship with Seth.
I like how the drama in each of these novels is something new and not just the same villain coming up again and again however the events of novels gone by aren't just forgotten and never spoken about again. It's a good mix of new and old.
The ending sort of surprised me. I didn't expect things to turn out how they did and now I can't wait till I get my hands on copy of the next book in the series to see how everything unfolds.

Week 1: YA Paranormal
Completed: July 3rd, 2012
Rating: ★ ★ and a half
Review:
I generally really like most of the YA paranormal books that I've read but I found this one really hard to get into. I'm a person that reads for the characters - the plot doesn't bother me so much as long as I can connect with the characters. In this book I found that I didn't care about any of the characters. At least not until a VERY long way into the novel.
I felt like there were a few too many stereotypes for me. The cheerleader type girl who thinks she's better than everyone else, the popular girl's boyfriend/ex who is interested in the main character, the main character's posse containing a nerd, a shyish girl and one or two characters for comic relief. I'm probably a bit hypocritical - I'll often forgive this but since I didn't care for the characters it just sort of ended up annoying me.
I did start to enjoy the story and just ignore all the little things that I was nitpicking over. Zoey comes into her own towards the end and I will consider reading other books in the series at a later date.

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper
Week 3: New2You Series
Completed: July 4th, 2012
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
I've been meaning to read this book for a while. It has many five star ratings from my GR friends and werewolves are some of my favourite supernatural beings.
This book was fun, flirty and really entertaining. The type of paranormal chick-lit than you can knock over in a day because it's light and funny. I really enjoyed the characters and the relationships between them.
Usually the leading male is my favourite character but Mo - the leading lady - stole the show. For a woman who relocated from Mississippi to Alaska just to escape her parents she was a lot more put together, logical and practical than I expected.
Really enjoyed it and will be reading the second book in the series. :)

Warning: I'm about to go on a post-fest. C=

This is a TBR for me as I haven't yet started the series. Good to hear that it does not go in for tons of repetition. That makes me a bit nuts. You said the villian part isn't repetitious but does the author do lots of repeating of past events? Or is it just bringing them back to the 'front' of the story?

There's brief mentions here and there - which I liked because I hate when the next novel in a series seems to completely forget the history of the characters - but nothing that made me want to scream with just repeating the events of books gone by over and over again.
Three stamps? Go us! :D

I don't even know what to say to that...
WOW?
Holy cr@p!?
Go you girl!!!!!?
...I've got nothin'. I'm at a loss. But I am impressed! :P

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'young-adult-paranormal' and 'favorite-series'.

Good Job!! :D

Every time I think I know which book I want to read this week I come across another one a little later on the list that I want to read even more :P

Week 1: New to You: series
Completed: July 7th, 2012

Review:This was wonderful! So very well crafted and subtle. It is nice to read a story that does not just beat you over the head with the obvious from the first page. Each character in this was well developed but never overplayed and all the 'secrets' of the book were definitely kept till the last minute.
I felt the magus' character was especially well written. Just enough of a jerk when needed, while you still felt he was sincere when he made gestures to Gen. You never had trouble seeing him in either role, which just speaks to how well the edge was danced in this case. And Gen!?! What a great character! Learning about him was a treat every time a tidbit was revealed...especially at the end! ;P
This was one of those books that would give you trouble if you were asked to choose a favorite part but you would still say, "I loved it!" Very good prose here and I will be reading the next, no doubt about it.

Thanks Kate. I'm off to visit my parent's farm with my kiddos. Quiet and relaxation...and reading! I'll check up but I may only be online once or twice between now and Thursday morning.
Happy reading ladies!

Decided to read Succubus Heat for this week. Apparently three people consider it to be a shifters book :)

For SHifter
Darkness Devours (Dark Angels #3)

I've finished my new to me book -- just need to get the blurb up

Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead
Week 4: Shifters
Completed: July 9nd, 2012
Rating: ★ ★ ★ and a half
Review:
As much as I'm a fan of this series, there was something that this particular book that I didn't like quite as much as the other books. I love the collection of creatures - succubus, vampires, demons, imps and angels - and I love the rules that they all have to adhere to but I didn't love Georgina in this story.
And as much as I disliked her, she was still in character and acting as a demon from hell who still seems to hold onto human ideals would act. There's only two more novels left in the series so not too much longer before the whole Seth/Georgina/Maddy thing sorts itself out and as much as I love a good love triangle... I'm ready for everything to resolve itself one way or another.

I hope you and the family had a great time at your parents place, Dana :)

Week 1: shifters
Completed: July 8th, 2012
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ½
This was a fun read and lived up to expectations. I wasn't as good as the first but then, that one was great! I did enjoy Tiago's character much more than I anticipated and Trick's character less so that was a surprise. She came off a little whiney-wa-wa which always turns me off to heroines. I am interested to read

The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong
Week 5: Ghosts
Completed: July 17th, 2012
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Review:
I really enjoyed this book. I think since it's the second in a series there wasn't a lot lot of setting up the world and the characters and since we got straight into the story, I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one. Chloe is really coming into her own in terms of her powers but also when dealing with other people. I'm not sure the girl from the first novel would have dealt with some of the situations from this novel as well as she did.
Derek and the rest of the gang of misfits are entertaining in their own ways - even Tori.
Only one book left in this trilogy and I'm excited to see where it leads.
I don't think I like this series as much as Kelley Armstrong's more adult series - Women of the otherworld - but this YA trilogy is entertaining in it's own way.

Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changelings, Book 1) by Nalini Singh
Finished 7/17/2012
4/5 stars
I thought this was a fun read with likeable characters and interesting world building.
Sascha is psy, so she is supposed to be left void of any feelings. But she is broken and has been hidinh her flaws from the other psy, especially her mother.
Lucas Hunter is a changling. Sascha and Lucas have to work together on a building project. Lucas knows that Sascha is not like other psy and wants her to show her true self. He also wants to get information from Sascha about her world to try to find the person responsible for killing changlings. It was a good story and I will continue reading this series.,
