No problems. 8D I'm the absolute last person that would get upset over people changing books around. Past captains would probably tell you I did that quite a bit myself.I officially rename this day. It is no longer Monday. The new name is Glitchday.
I spent an hour looking for a file this morning. It should have been under F. I finally found it in another companies folder under W. Not my fault, I didn't file it, but still a pain to locate. GRRRR!

This will probably be a really short review because there's not much I can say that wouldn't completely spoil events from previous books for people who haven't read them yet. While I wouldn't say this is the best book in the series, I still really enjoyed it. I really like how much Merit has come into her own since the beginning of the series. One thing that kept it from being a 5 star read for me was (view spoiler) The book ended in a way that makes me curious to see what will happen next while still wrapping up some storylines from previous books. I'll definitely be reading the next one!

Poor Daffodil, I hope your day got better!I've read Under Wraps a little while ago and thought that it was alright. If I remember correctly the heroine was of the slightly clueless sort. I should pick up #2 eventually.

Daffodil: I saw your posts on the Dr. Who thread. I've never seen Dr. Who, but loved the spin-off Torchwood. Have you seen it? I think I need to go back and watch all the Dr. Who episodes...It's a little overwhelming though, with so many seasons on the air...not sure where to begin.
Love Torchwood too. When they decided to begin creating more Doctor Who episodes in 2005 (previously aired 1963-1989) they did it in such a way that someone totally new to the experience could step in and begin watching. They even called it Series 1. LOL. S1: Christopher Eccelston played the 9th Doctor and Billie Piper played his companion, Rose.
S2 - S4 The 10th Doctor was played by David Tenant. Various companions, including Rose, accompanied him.
S5-S6 The 11th Doctor, played by Matt Smith, is companioned mainly by Amy Pond with Rory and River Song making many appearances.
I'm impatiently waiting for S7 to start in September.
I would start with Christopher E's S1 episodes. You'll even get to see the introduction of Captain Jack in episodes 9-10! He's not working for Torchwood yet and you'll have to wait to find out what events bring about his immortality.
Just throwing in my two cents on Doctor Who. :)Definitely start with Christopher E's season! I personally started with Series 2 when David Tennant became the Doctor because one of my friends who recommended the show to me really didn't like Christopher E for some reason. I ended up being slightly confused at first. I've since seen Christopher E's season and agree it's a good place to start. I've always wanted to go back and watch the "classic Who" episodes just to see what they're like.
Also, Torchwood is great! I still need to see Miracle Day though.

Review: Even knowing that this book was on the Angel shelf, it took me until 3/4 of the way through it to figure out that there was an angel in it, and who it was.
This book was ok. I was a bit bored of the fashion show it seemed to be waltzing around but it was a decent urban fantasy. A bit formulaic. Hot guy(s), spunky best friend, regular girl suddenly finding herself over her head and needing to rescued by said hot guy.
I liked Steve the troll, and his way of speaking in the third person was amusing. I liked Louis, or should I say Vlad, and his VERM agenda. I suppose it could be considered a good thing that I never suspected the Big Bad but it really felt like it came out of left field.
It felt like Stephanie Plum in the Twilight Zone, except that Stephanie was not quite that bad at firearms... EVER.
I'll probably read the next book in the series but I'm not overly eager to get started on them.
Thanks Steph and Daffodil, I was wondering if I should start with the classic episodes or not. I think I will take your advice and start with S1 with Christopher Eccelston.Steph: Miracle Day was very good. I personally liked the first 3 seasons better though. Once they (view spoiler) and changed the format to more mini-series like; it wasn't quite the same for me. I still enjoyed it though and it is definitely worth seeing. Others enjoy the later seasons better though...I guess it's just personal preference.
Miracle Day is still sitting on my DVR. I'll get around to it ... someday.If you enjoy the newer version of DW, you can always go back and watch some classic episodes. Find out the back history of the Doctor and Daleks, Cybermen, etc. But the writers did a good job of giving you the information you need to watch without having seen the classics.
Lisa I agree with Daffodil & Steph Ann, start with S1 CE. If you liked Torchwood, you'll love Dr Who.The only one I haven't seen yet is Miracle Day, just waiting for it come down in price on DVD, as it didn't screen on free-to-air channels like normal here in Aus.
If you get tempted to check out classic Who, try Tom Baker's Who :)

I love both DW (i actually named one of my cats Rory Williams lol) and Torchwood. I thought Miracle Day was really phenomenal in the same way Children of Earth was. Great story, great cast and at moments completely emotionally devastating.
Well, after all that I am definitely excited about watching the Dr. Who series...Once my move is all complete and I am finally settled in.And as for my reading...I am really enjoying
. It is not anything like what I expected...nothing like her BDB series...but still has me totally engrossed.
I definitely need to watch Miracle Day at some point. They had it available briefly on Netflix for streaming, but I didn't have the time to watch it, and now they just have the first two seasons and Children of Earth. Raven Cursed, Faith Hunter, 8-14-12Rating: 4.5 stars
Reveiw: For some reason this has been a hard book to review. I debated between 4 and 5 stars. So I'm giving it 4.5.
Jane's history and internal dialogues with Beast is one of the most fascinating and entertaining aspects of this series. I'm not going to go into the details to avoid spoilers, but Jane can shapeshift into a mountain lion who she calls Beast. They each have a distinctive voice and their personalities are very different, which can sometimes put them at odds over a course of action. (view spoiler)
I also really enjoy Jane's relationship with the Molly and family. Jane's been alone most of her life, hide's her skinwalker abilities from everyone, but allows this family into her heart. Beast has a soft spot for the "kits" and protects them when necessary. I would have liked to have seen Jane interact more with them when danger wasn't an imminent possibility.
Jane is still dealing with fallout from the events of the last book. Witches, vampires, werepanthers, werewolves and grindylows all appear. In this book demons and angels are added to the mix. There really was a lot going on this time around, but the majority was tied up into one overall plot by the end.
I will definitely be buying and reading the next book.

EEEK! I'm really not sure what I'm going to read yet. I'm currently rereading
. I don't remember a lot of details from reading it about 6 years ago. I must have liked it, I hung on to the first book, but I never continued the series. I've read a lot of good things here so I decided to reread one and continue on. So far, it's really good. Unless the ending is the problem, I could use

You definitely have a lot of choices, Daffodil! I like the Cassie Palmer series and have actually been thinking about going back and re-reading it. Then again, I also really like the October Daye and Bloodhound Files series as well, so you really can't go wrong with any of those. I haven't read the others, although I think the Nancy Gideon book is on my TBR list.Hope the move is going well, Lisa! :)

Review:
Angels' Pawn (★★★★): This story concentrates on Ashwini, a guild hunter and the vampire Janvier. We've read about them every now and then in the previous books and know that Ash is usually hunting him. This time round, they have to work together though, and we see the chemistry build between them. It was a fun little story, that makes me hope those two get their own book one day.
Angel's Judgment (★★★): The story of Sara and Deacon and how they get together. I enjoyed finding out a bit more about Elena's best friend, how she became guild director and snagged herself the slayer.
Angel's Wolf (★★★): This story features Noel, one of Raphael's vampires. He's the one who got tortured in "Archangel's Kiss", and he's still recovering from the abuse. Raphael sends him off to Nimra's court, a beautiful and dangerous angel, to help her find out who is trying to kill her. A lovely story, that showed how Noel made Nimra a little more human and how Nimra helped Noel to slowly start overcome his past.
Angels' Dance (★★★★1/2): Jessamy is the teacher and historian at the refuge and she is a two thousand year old angel, who has never been able to fly, because of her deformed wing. Galen, in comparison, is a very young warrior angel who has just transferred to Raphael's court. Their story is a very sweet and beautiful one, that has to overcome quite a few obstacles, due to their own inner demons. We also get to see my personal favourite Illium and find out how he picked up the nickname Bluebell. My favourite story of the lot.
Lot's of choices there, Daffodil. I personally love the Cassie Palmer series, and also enjoyed the Bloodhound Files.I'm also interested in reading "Midnight Riot", so should you go for that, I'll be looking forward to your review :)
Great review, Kerstin! I believe I've read Angel's Pawn and Angel's Judgment, but I still need to read the other two! I'll have to make it a goal to do that before the next Guild Hunter books comes out! :)I should have my 2011 book finished today (thank God, because I'm really not enjoying it and am just ready for it to be done) and will post my review either over my lunch hour or tonight when I get home.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that Steph Ann. I own a copy of A Rush of Wings but have never got around to reading it. Her Black Dust Mambo was pretty good, IMO. Oh well, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts and what you didn't like.

As soon as I finished Touch the Dark, I wanted to know what happened next. So, I decided to go with Claimed By Shadow. I'm over halfway through and enjoying it so far.

Review: (I've tried to stay kinda spoiler free)
While Butch is not my favorite Brother, he's on my top 5 list. I loved rereading his story again. It was agonizing to go through his and Marissa's problems again, even knowing it was going to have a HEA.
V just breaks my heart though. The first book in the series I read was V's book. I don't usually read out of order but the library had V's book listed as the first in the series and after reading it, I was completely in love with him. The UST between him and Butch still kills me. And the whole scene in his Penthouse when he's drunk and despondent... never fails to affect me.
And poor John, he's so confused and hurt and angry all the time. It was good to see him start to open up again. His walks with Zsadist will help him, later, and I was still happy to see Lash get his butt kicked again.
I especially love the line about the night of firsts. Sex. Arson. Pants.
Back to the main storyline, the only nitpicky little thing I dislike is that it took so long for them to hammer out their issues. Especially since they have been dancing around each other for a couple of books now. It seemed like Z had an easier time coming around with all his problems and heaven knows that Brother has more baggage than Samsonite.
Regardless, I'm still in love with the series although I still have a hard time not skipping all the scenes with the lessors like I

I was really disappointed by this one. I don’t know if my expectations were too high because I’d heard a lot of good things about the series beforehand or if I just wasn’t in the right mood. Whatever the reason, this book was a struggle for me.
I gave this two stars rather than one because I did occasionally see hints of a good story, and I’d get caught up in what was going on, but those moments didn’t happen often enough to rate it higher.
I really did not like the use of multiple points of view. It just felt really disjointed to me and I couldn’t get a good feel for any of the characters because the book never stayed with one person for too long. I think that lack of connection to the characters is why I had a hard time believing the romance aspect of the story. I just had a hard time believing Heather and Dante’s feelings for each other when they’d barely spent much time together outside of a murder scene.
I also wish the glossary of terms had been at the beginning of the book rather than the end. I took French in high school and college, so I was able to understand anything going on in French, but there was also some Welsh (I think) thrown in that I had to just skip over because I had no clue what it meant. Since I was reading on my Kindle, I had no idea there was a glossary until I reached the end of the book.
I typically try to read at least the first two books in any series because I know the first is not always the best, but it’s going to be awhile before I pick up #2 (if I ever do). Believe it or not, I don’t even have a quote to share!
I think I will continue on with the Night Huntress Series and read

Review: After reading J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series and loving every second of it, I couldn’t wait to jump into her Fallen Angel’s Series. I think that I assumed, as many others did, that it would have a similar feel as the BDB series. Well it does not…in fact it is nothing like it…and I was pleasantly surprised! There are a few familiar places and faces, but the story is completely original. I enjoy the theme of good vs. evil and angels going to earth to save human souls. This story reminded me of Touched By An Angel, WARDen style! It is Angels versus Demons and the ultimate fate of the world is in Jim’s hands. Jim is the main character, chosen to save seven souls from one of the seven deadly sins, and he is definitely not your typical angel. Although he is rough on the outside, he is pretty much a big softy on the inside. I loved the part in the story where he meets Dog (once you read the story you’ll know what I mean)…I think this reveals a lot about his true nature. This first story revolves around a guy named Vin and the sin of greed. I am assuming that Jim will visit the other seven deadly sins in the remaining books of the series. If you are expecting BDB, this is not it. But if you are looking for an originally entertaining story of good versus evil, I can highly recommend this book. I am definitely looking forward to the next one in this series.

Lisa, your review makes me want to finally pick up "Covet". After all it is patiently waiting on my bookshelf for ages!
