Lisa P | 574 comments I wanted to do a Psycop as well Kerstin... unfortunately too short. I've been wanting to start that series for a while now.

Tough decision but I think I will read Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan ...I've heard good things about this series.

I've had a great time too...hope to see you all next round!

Steph Ann | 1220 comments Just a real quick and short review for my last book of Round 5!

Living Nightmare (Sentinel Wars, #4) by Shannon K. Butcher
Shelf: Psychic
Read: 9/3/12
Rating: ***1/2

I probably should have re-read the previous book before starting this one because it took me awhile to remember all the characters. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. It was nice to finally get Maddoc and Nika's story since their relationship has been building for the past couple books. I'm looking forward to reading the next one!

Kerstin | 862 comments And we have a winner...team 12 has made it!

But I thought I still post a quick review:
Crux (Southern Arcana, #1) by Moira Rogers

Shelf: Psychic
Read: 4/9//12
Rating: ★★★
Review:
After being on the run from a deranged man claiming to be a shape shifter for more than a month, Mackenzie has finally settled down for a while. She's working as a barmaid and is hoping she finally has a reprieve and can start over. Little does she know that her boss Nick and her crush Jackson are much more than they seem and that her world is about to be turned upside down.
A quick read with interesting characters, set in an interesting world. The story itself had potential and was well paced throughout most of the book, but the end seemed a bit rushed to me.

Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse, #12) by Charlaine Harris Deadlocked, Charlaine Harris, 9-3-12
Rating: 2.5 stars
Review:After the transitional nature of the last book, I was really hoping for a return of the series I've loved over the years. Instead, there were a lot of things missing from this book.

Eric, Pam and the rest of the Fangtasia gang: Other than a few obligatory appearances, they were all pretty much no-shows. Eric is such a dynamic character, ruthless and willing to take any action to save or further the interests of those he considers "his". Eric's absence and the reasons behind it make him look weak and are out of character. Would the Eric we know and love, the real Eric, have been relying on Sookie to pull him out of the fire or would he have multiple schemes in action to take care of matters himself whether he could maneuver Sookie into doing what he wanted or not.

Sam: He was had one giant key scene at the end of the book, but otherwise Sam's interactions with Sookie were pretty lackluster. Other than that one moment, his part seemed only important in pushing forward someone else's plot.

Action, suspense and a steady pace: Small bursts of exciting action spaced between long segments of lazy day enjoyment on Sookie's part. Okay, maybe, just maybe it wasn't that bad. ... Maybe.

Any sort of mystery: I knew who was responsible. I may not have known exactly why on one person's part, but for me the whodunnit left a lot to be desired.

Overall, the story hovered between ok and likeable, hence the 2.5 rating. It seemed to be more about pushing elements into a desired position for the final book than having people act true to character and interact normally. I will likely read the next book, mainly because it's supposedly the final in the series and I'd like to see things end how things end.

Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan
Shelf: psychic
Read: 9/3/12
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This book is the start of what I perceive will be a great series! I loved the whole idea of the Ghostwalkers, and their numerous psychic “talents”. There was quite a bit of background information, but it was completely warranted and kept me engaged the entire time. It was definitely necessary in order to introduce the characters, their “talents”, the company, and to explain the “whys” and “hows” of the research going on. I am a bit of a science nerd myself and found the technical/research stuff quite fascinating. I loved the bond between Ryland and Lily and the fact that, no matter what, Ryland would always be there for her. I like that Lily is a very strong independent women, but still has a vulnerable side. I thought they made for a great couple and I was routing for them the entire time. Most of all, I love the fact that these Ghostwalkers all come from the Special Ops arena…that always translates into lots of action, which I always enjoy in a story. We get to catch glimpses into the lives and personalities of some of these other Ghostwalkers as well, and I look forward to hearing their stories in later books. I am definitely looking forward to the next one in this series.
