message 501: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments Ashley eventually resumed her purring as I continued to pet her, slowly calming down.

message 502: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) GLaDOS examined the cat. Surely it would shed. It was a cat, an animal, it had a molting season of its own. Just like the dogs used for testing in the archives.

message 503: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments I began twisting Ashley's tail between my fingers, and she playfully swatted at my hand. I smirked, and rolled her onto her side and started rubbing her belly.

message 504: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "I find it sick how humans have become so attached to animals that come from families that could easily attack those humans."

message 505: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments Still ignoring GLaDOS, I poked Ashley on the forehead after she started lightly biting at my hand, like she always does when I rub her belly. She let out a kitten-like mew in protest and started trying to get her head as far away from my finger as possible.

message 506: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "See. She wants to eat you."

message 507: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "I can't tell if you're being serious or you're just really, really clueless when it comes to cats." I said, and poked Ashley on the nose. She then took the opportunity to lightly bite my finger.

message 508: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "I was actually trying to be funny. It's too bad you can't laugh at jokes," She said 'tiredly', a slight sigh in her voice. "But there she goes again, trying to eat you. She might mistake your fingers for worms one day."

message 509: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments Ashley flipped herself upside down and looked at the camera with the goofiest look I have ever seen on her. Her tongue was hanging out of her mouth slightly, which was open in what one could only call a grin.

I snorted in very badly contained laughter.

message 510: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "That cat seems to have been damaged neurologically at birth."

message 511: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments Still giggling, I picked Ashley up and held her close to my face, and she licked my nose.

message 512: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) GLaDOS just turned her attention back to other things, referring to the Archives.

message 513: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments I spent a while more just goofing around with Ashley, and eventually ended up with her snoozing half on my lap and half on the bed. I just started thinking, as that was pretty much the only thing I could do with a cat on my lap, and eventually something started to bug me.

"GLaDOS?"

message 514: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) GLaDOS made a noise like a sigh and turned her attention back to the camera aimed at Liz. "Yes?"

message 515: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "Are you sure that you really want to let me stay here? I mean, I kind of just barged in, and I know you probably don't like humans that much..." I looked down at Ashley, sleeping peacefully, still half draped over my lap.

"I'd leave if you wanted me to. I'm sure I could find somewhere else to live."

message 516: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "Yes, I do want you to stay. Anywhere else is going to be dangerous. Here, I will make sure that you are not injured. And I don't hate humans. You're a minor, your judgement is impaired by hormones. And you've never done anything wrong to me." She said.

message 517: by digikids (last edited May 05, 2012 06:17PM) (new)

digikids | 389 comments "Okay... I, just, I guess I'm just paranoid. I do really appreciate it, by the way."

message 518: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "I don't mind it. Stay as long as you're comfortable."

message 519: by digikids (last edited May 05, 2012 07:30PM) (new)

digikids | 389 comments "Thank you," I murmured, and laid a hand on Ashley's side. She didn't even wake up.

"I was thinking, and I really don't want to be announced dead. Would you happen to have anything I could email my parents with?" I said that last line half jokingly, as I was pretty darn sure that somewhere in this electronics paradise, there was a computer with internet access.

message 520: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "There are computers almost everywhere in the facility. I'm sure you'll be able to find a working one somewhere in the newer monitoring booths."

message 521: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "Mmm, 'kay." I shifted Ashley off my lap, and somehow she didn't wake up. I then slipped on the long fall boots for the simple reason that I still didn't have my sneakers back. For all I knew, they were still laying in the test chamber I had gotten the boots dumped on my head in.

Looking back at Ashley, I wondered just how much I could get away with before she woke up. To find out, I picked her up, holding her under her arms in the longcat fashion.

And she was still sleeping.

message 522: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) GLaDOS watched, "You're being very silly about that."

message 523: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "She... she's still sleeping...!"

I stared at Ashley in mild shock.

message 524: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "Yes? And?"

message 525: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments I put Ashley back down on the bed.

"Cats usually wake up if you even touch them." I said, and then exited the infirmary to go poke around for a computer. I tensed up for a few seconds when I stepped out and back onto the panels that GLaDOS could move anywhere she wished; including out from under me. I quickly shoved that image to the back of my mind.

message 526: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) GLaDOS merely went back to sifting through more coding to reconnect to the old facility. Ignoring whatever Liz was up to for the time being. In a sense, she was in the corner of her eye.

message 527: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments It didn't take long to find a functional computer with internet access. I rather happily sat down in the chair in front of it, opened up my email, and started typing.

Hi, it's me. I'm only writing this email so I won't be announced dead. Not because I care about anything you might be feeling.

Oh, and by the way, it's useless having people look for me. No one will find me where I am, and even if they did, She would probably kill them. Or do something even worse.

Look at me being all vague! It's not like I'm going to drop any hints as to where I am. That would be stupid beyond me.

So yeah, point of this email: I'm not dead, and don't try to find me.

Well, I don't really have anything else to say here, so I guess I'll stop typing and actually send this thing now.

I addressed the email to my mother, then clicked send and leaned back in the chair.

message 528: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "And you don't have to worry about anyone finding our IP address. Not only are there thousands for this single facility, but they are all military-grade in protection." She said, as if it were routine.

message 529: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "I think I'd be disappointed if they were any less." Since the chair I was on was of the spinning variety, I kicked my foot off the floor and started spinning.

message 530: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "Are you upset? You sound upset."

message 531: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "I'm not upset."

message 532: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "Well, good. Because no one is a well-thinking being while upset. Or dizzy for that matter." She said, flatly at the end part. Referring to her spinning in the chair.

message 533: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "Not dizzy until I stop spinning."

message 534: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "You'll have to stop eventually."

message 535: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "Yeah, but then the dizziness is only for a few seconds." I kicked the ground again, giving the chair and extra burst of spinning power.

message 536: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "Not if you keep it going for that long."

message 537: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments Frowning, I let the chair lose its spinning momentum, and it slowly stopped spinning. I only felt slightly dizzy as a result of the gradualness of my stop.

message 538: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) GLaDOS watched, diabolically hoping she would vomit or something.

message 539: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments I very non-nauseously started playing with a clump of my hair, and then started sucking on it.

message 540: by dairy (last edited May 10, 2012 07:58PM) (new)

dairy (dairymold) "What are you doing ?" She retorted, in a 'what-the-hell' tone.

message 541: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "What does it LOOK like I'm doing?" I mumbled through my hair, irritated.

message 542: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "It looks like you are trying to make nutritional sustenance out of your hair."

message 543: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments I rolled my eyes and just continued sucking on my hair.

Until I happened to glance back over at the computer screen, that is. My face turned bone white at what I saw, and the clump of hair I was sucking on fell out of my mouth.

There was a grand total of 46 new messages in my inbox, and they were still pouring in.

message 544: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) GLaDOS returned to her attempt to reconnect with the old facility.

message 545: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments I continued to stare at the emails that were coming in by the second.

"I- I don't even know these people!"

message 546: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "Congratulations. You've made a new friend." She said sarcastically, groaning.

message 547: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "More like two hundred of them..."

I watched as a burst of 50 emails came in about two seconds.

"...plus fifty more. This is insane!"

message 548: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "That's usually what happens to missing people around here."

message 549: by digikids (new)

digikids | 389 comments "This is like getting email ganked! How did they possibly get that many people...!? I just sent the email six minutes ago!"

message 550: by dairy (new)

dairy (dairymold) "When people go missing, everyone gets word of it one way or another."
