Lis | 4037 comments Woo Hoo Divas!!

Oh my! Now what will we do til Saturday's announcement... I guess I'll start with all the neglected housework I've ignored... I'd rather be reading!

message 303: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 150 comments My sisters surgery went well! Her anesthesia didnt works, and she was awake the while time. Shes in a lot of pain, but she took it like a champ. :)

& lis im more than ready for that announcement too!

message 304: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Good news that the surgery is behind and the healing can begin!

message 305: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments That's great to hear!

message 306: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Great news, Jennifer!

message 307: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Fantastic Jennifer, but WTF awake throughout? Crazy.

message 308: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 150 comments They only wanted to put her under halfway, because they wanted her to be awake and able to talk. she said they waited too long to do it so itwore off at the beginning. When they realized what was.happening, they got the pain meds ready for after.

message 309: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Bummer! Don't they know prevention is better than cure!!

At least she's getting better :)

message 310: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Hi Jennifer, how's your sister doing today?

message 311: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 150 comments She's doing great! She feels so much better now that she doesn't have to worry about how the surgery is going to go.

Thanks for asking :)

message 312: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments That's wonderful! Hopefully each day will get a little better and having the worry & stress of waiting over can only help her improve and heal.

message 313: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments *hop* *jump* *hop* *jump*. It's shelf day! It's shelf day! I'm kind of in tweener book limbo, afraid to start something that I might not want to put down or might be called....

message 314: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments *jumping along* Tomorrow's shelf day for me - when I wake up, I can see the shelf. Yay!! I'm pretty sure the book I just finished will be part of the shelf called tomorrow :P

message 315: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Just peeking at our card and nothing is lining up for us yet... Hope today's shelf makes us a little more of a threat since we are kicking it in with fast reading... NOT that I'm a little competitive at all.

message 316: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I went through the team bingo stats a few days (okay, last sunday) and after 4 shelves, 4 teams have 3-in-a-row lined up. Nobody will get a bingo tomorrow but chances of more 3s and 4s are more. I'm totally not competitive at all.

message 317: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I'm sure everyone's reading pace will pick up as soon as the game gets closer. Come on Mr Randomizer let's make it interesting and give us a good one...

message 318: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Food in the oven so the family won't starve... Check!
Corona opened with a couple of limes... Check!
Yep, the mountainous pile of TBR books is waiting... Check!
Just need a book... _ _ _ _ _

shelf! shelf! Shelf! Shelf! Shelf! SHelf! SHelf! SHElf! SHElf! SHElf! SHELf! SHELf! SHELF! SHELF!

Vi | 943 comments Drat, I got up early but missed the announcement by 12 mins :(

message 322: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Thanks for the link, Lis!

message 323: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Good Morning Vi... Too many choices from my TBR pile, yikes... 17 at the first pass and only a few pages... I have a true book collecting sickness, thank goodness I have a big house to hide them in. I will post the short list when I narrow it down.

message 324: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I've shortlisted: Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher or Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance or Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison .

Has anyone read the Cassie Palmer and the Hollows series? Which is better?

message 325: by Lis (last edited Feb 25, 2012 05:04PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I love the Hollows series. But the first book sucks with the world building etc. it took me til book two to threeish to be completely sucked in. I just finished relistening to 7-9 and working on this weeks new release A Perfect Blood? I love the characters and Jenks is one of the best!

I have the Cassie book on my short list, but have not been able to like that one yet...

message 326: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I went through the first page and had three new series that I've been wanting to try and around 4-5 others from existing ones. All in the first page.

Unfortunately, demons doesn't do any 3-in-a-row for us but it does give us 2 other 2-in-a-row.

message 327: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 150 comments Im going to read succubus on top

message 328: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Short listing: The Hour of Dust and Ashes (Charlie Madigan, #3) by Kelly Gay Hexed (Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance Raziel (The Fallen, #1) by Kristina Douglas The Darkest Lie (Lords of the Underworld, #6) by Gena Showalter Grave Peril (The Dresden Files, #3) by Jim Butcher Burning Alive (Sentinel Wars, #1) by Shannon K. Butcher

message 329: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments Haven't read the hollows but just finished the cassie palmer series and I enjoyed them.

message 330: by Vi (last edited Feb 25, 2012 05:25PM) (new)

Vi | 943 comments Go with Grave Peril. It's good, Lis. That's the only book I've read from your shortlist. Hexed is also April BOM. I'll definitely read then :P

message 331: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I heard the first book in Cassie Palmer series is also not that good as there's infodump in it. Also realized after your post that The Darkest Edge of Dawn (Charlie Madigan, #2) by Kelly Gay is also on the shelf. So, it's basically continue one series or start a new one. Decisions Decisions.

message 332: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I want to get into Dresden, but it's not grabbing me yet... Leaning towards Hour of Dust, but the cover of Raziel Raziel (The Fallen, #1) by Kristina Douglas is just nice to look at, so I'm doing a quick browse of chapter 1, and pretty good so far.

message 333: by Heather (new)

Heather (heathermb) | 132 comments I'll be going with The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter since it's already on my challenge-tbr list. I'll be able to cross it off a couple of lists. :)

message 334: by Vi (last edited Feb 26, 2012 04:43PM) (new)

Vi | 943 comments Shelf 4 - Demons (Called on 25/26 Feb): 0/5

Lis - The Hour of Dust and Ashes by Kelly Gay
Dawn - Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Vi -
Heather - The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter

Succubus on Top (Georgina Kincaid, #2) by Richelle Mead The Hour of Dust and Ashes (Charlie Madigan, #3) by Kelly Gay Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter

message 335: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments Weird it didn't take my last post. The first Cassie Palmer does have an info dump it was still a good read however not my favorite one of the series.

I'm thinking Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor it's an audiobook so will take me a few days to get through it. That and this shelf isn't critical so a few days won't hurt. Oh and I can use audiobooks right?

message 336: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Yep, take your time Dawn. No bingo this week or the next. No 4-in-a-row yet. I've been wanting to read the book but I'm waiting until the next book is released. Don't fancy waiting a year in between books. I still don't know what book I'm going to read and definitely won't start today.

message 337: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn_e) | 185 comments Yeah that is the hard part about series...waiting for the next one and the next one. They don't write fast enough for me. :) course I'm all over the place with series starting new ones and since it may be months since I picked up the next one in series memory recall isn't always the greatest. Thankfully there is goodreads!

Couldn't help getting this one it was a good deal....and my next in death book wasn't available from the library.

message 338: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Vi my browse of The Hour of Dust and Ashes turned into 7chapters before I went to bed, so I will finish it for my demon shelf read.

message 339: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Lis, ok thanks! I'll change it.

message 340: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Thx Vi , it sucked me in and is moving pretty fast. I'm almost done.

Lis | 4037 comments Finished: The Hour of Dust and Ashes by Kelly Gay
Shelf: Demons
Read: 2/26/12
Rating: ★★★★

Review: Charlie and crew are picking up and dealing with the aftermath of where they left off at the end of the last climactic ending and Atlanta is still dark. She is fighting for her sister Brym trying to save her from the ash and the spirits that have taken up residence in all the ash survivors. This leads to a trip to the other hell dimension and more beasties to battle. We discover more about her partner Hank and left with a bit of a cliff hanger. This was a fast paced read that kept me engaged to the end and I can't believe I have to wait until the end of July to see what happens next.

Jennifer | 150 comments Finished- Succubus on Top by Richelle Mead
Date- February 27, 2012
Shelf- Demons
Rating- Five stars
Review- In this book, Georgina is trying to have a relationship with mortal and favorite author Seth without going all succubus on him. There was lots of entertainment with her escapades. In this book, her long time friend and fellow incubus comes to visit and ask for her help. Also, there is a new drug and immortal is thrown her way. All in all,
witheverything going onthere was never a dull moment.
