R4: Team #6 ~ Twisted Sixes

If memory serves, some of what happened with Cordy was due to real life -- Charisma wanted to start a family.
What happens with Fred, I always saw it as being part of Wesley's story arc. Let's see how many more ways there are to torture poor Wes! Plus, Joss never let characters go too long in a content, well-adjusted, state. He had to shake things up. I've always wondered what Joss would have done if he could have gone one more season -- assuming season 5 had a different ending than it did because it WASN'T being cancelled.

Well I didn't like her in anything but Buffster, though I haven't watched Ringer yet, taped it and hubby thought it was OK/Good.

I figured Ms CC probably wanted to leave, but they could of left it so she could pop back in, it was just too rushed and crazy.
I think I was more shocked with Fred, cause I really liked her.
The Connor story arc was interesting though, and he was cute!!!!

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Shelf: Free Space (SOS Bookshelf)
Read: 3/1/12
Review: Devil Without a Cause introduces us to Finn Payne, a rock star who's success is due to a ring and a deal with the Devil; Faith McFarland, a single mother who is caring for her son, who has a brain tumor; and reintroduces fans of Terri's Nicki Styx series with the Devil himself, Samael, the Fallen (AKA: His Satanic Majesty, Son of Morning, Prince of Darkness, Lord of the Underworld, etc, etc, etc). The lives of these three collide when Gabrielle comes to Sam(my B. Divine) with "a chance for redemption. A chance to show the One that {he} regrets {his} disobedience, that {he} still wants forgiveness." He's still sore over the whole Eve (Lilith) fiasco.
The offer, made by Gabrielle, is to help a mortal woman (Faith) who needs guidance. Sammy takes him up on the offer, but twists it to fit his agenda, no surprise there - he is the Father of Lies, after all. He decides to kill two birds with one stone. See, Sammy desperately wants Finn's ring back. Finn hasn't succumb to the pressures of the Ring of Chaos, as the wearers before him have, and has instead survived 20 years. Sammy will get Finn's soul once he loses the ring, but Sammy cannot take it from him. He also sees this "chance" as an opportunity to gather another soul - again, why not? So, he offers to save Faith's son, cure his cancer, if she seduces Finn, steals the ring, brings it him and he gets her soul when she dies. What would you do to save the life of your son? What about the life of the man you think you might love? The despicable idea of seducing a man and spending eternity in Hell present challenges for Faith, but things get confusing for her when Finn does whatever necessary to stop her from handing over his ring.
This was a very quick read for me. I enjoyed it much more than I was expecting. Even though Finn and Faith's story should've been the spotlight, Sammy really made the book for me. He's a hoot. He's experiencing some changes in his life that he never expected and is still trying to let go of his mortal love, Nicki, who has married and moved on. That said, I did enjoy Faith and Finn. I connected a bit more with Finn, but Faith's desire to save her son at all costs is certainly one that pulls at the heartstrings.
I look forward to starting book 2, A Devil Named Desire later tonight.

Every time I watch an episode, I try to guess what the twist will be. It's one of those series that keeps ya guessing, which I like.

I guess Joss had to re-think season 4 when Chrisma got preggers in real-life. In fact, had she not, she would have probably been in more episodes and there would not have been a need for Gina Torres.

As to the Goddess thing with Gina, well, you'd be right there.

I forgot to tell you that I'll be traveling for pleasure/business starting tomorrow and coming back the following Friday. I should have Internet and some time to read but I'm not sure how much.
I'll try to finish the book for next week's shelf within the week but please forgive me if it takes longer than usual. :)

I can't wait to see what Gena will do with the keeper of disease. I hope she gets withe Kresley cole so they can do a book together.

Okay so PNR. I really want to read

Tbh, it really could be anything so I won't make a definite decision now since I won't be able to start it before Tuesday (sorry team, I have much c/w to be handed in waaaahhhhhh). So I'll let you know then *sniff*

I skipped your review, Juana b/c I wanna read that one for the PNR shelf. I did see your 5★ though. :D YAY!
SO many choices for this shelf, but I'm anxious to start Paris' book. Think that'll be the one I go with for this shelf.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy Reading!

I'll post my review in the morning. Enjoy your travels DG!

I have to take a plane ride today so I'll definitely decide by then.

I'm about 1/2 thru mine and really enjoying it.

Title/Author: Windfall by Rachel Caine
Date finished: 7th March
Rating: ★★★★1/2
Review: I feel drained. These books really put your emotions through the wringer. There is so much action and of course some BIG shockers. They are completely unpredictable and you never know who's going to die next.
Windfall had a different feel to it at the beginning - I think that was because for once Joanne wasn't on the run and also for some other spoilery reason. Poor Jo, everything that can go wrong, goes wrong. She never seems to catch a break and has people from all sides attacking her. Even though I don't agree with her every decision, she's a heroine you can get behind since her heart is in the right place.
I'm so excited for the next one Firestorm, I may end up reading it straight away when I can get my strength back :P
Happy reading team!

I'd almost forgotten to post my review for my PNR shelf read. I'm in the middle of finals and swamped. Here's the short & sweet of it.

Shelf: paranormal-romance
Read: 3/7/12
Rating: 5★
Review: Poor Paris. He's been through a lot
As with all books in this series, there are a TON of other things going on at the same time - side-stories between side-characters & mates, Titans, and others. It's sometimes hard to keep track with so much time in between books. But, Gena does a great job of bringing fans back to up speed very quickly and painlessly. And, as always, she introduces new characters that leave us wanting more. In this addition, we meet three more immortal keepers, who I'm anxious to read more about in future books.
I cannot wait for Zacharel's book,

How are we doing with the demons shelf?

Dana, could you pls add my Free Space read (post #255) to the master list? Thanks! :)
I'm pluggin' away on my finals. One down, one to go. I'll probably be scarce until the shelf announcement on Sunday. Hope everyone has a great Friday/Weekend!

Title/Author: Haunting Beauty by Erin Quinn
Read for shelf: paranormal-romance
Date finished: March 8
Rating: ★★½
Review: This book was a weird combination of time travel, magic and ghosts and not executed particularly well. Some of the plot points were so convoluted that they didn't make much sense and one in particular was too close to an important aspect of the Fever series for it too feel nothing other than repetitive. Maybe (view spoiler) are part of Irish folklore (on which this book attempted to be based) but then the author should have attempted to give it her own spin.
The relationship between the main characters was very flat and I really couldn't tell why they fell in love. The supposed twist of the hero's situation was way out there and the author didn't attempt to explain how exactly that worked out. Even the ending was weird and maudlin; I couldn't help but roll my eyes when I read it.
So I'm definitely not continuing this series, even though the description of the next book appealed to me. I need my fantasy to have some logic and based on this book, I just don't trust this author to create a story where I won't need leaps of faith to even understand what's going on.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

To save Dana going through the posts, I'll put what we've done and where to find (I'll try to link to posts):
Steph - Every Other Day (Demons) message 229
Me - Chill Wind (Demons) message 233
D.G. - Storm Front (Demons) message 250
Juana - The Darkest Seduction (Demons) message 265
Me - Windfall (PNR) message 278
Steph - The Darkest Seduction (PNR) message 279
D.G. - Haunting Beauty (PNR) message 282
I think that's everyone, you'll have to let Dana know if I've missed anyone.
Hope this is helpful Dana if you're busy! :)

Although I haven't been checking the other teams so for all I know, somebody is in the brink to bingo!

TITLE/AUTHOR:Lothaire by Kresley Cole

READ FOR SHELF:Paranormal Romance
DATE FINISHED: 3/9/12
RATING: 5 Stars
REVIEW: I don't know what it is about tortured bad guys who aren't even that bad, that gets me all the time. Lothaire sure changes a new leaf in his own story. Sure he was tortured during his very long life, but then he meets his better half in Elizabeth. Lothaire starts out wanting to destroy Elizabeth because he thinks this evil goddess Saroya is his queen but it turns out that Elizabeth the lowly human girl is his real bride. They face trials in which he gets to know Elizabeth and decides then and there that he wants her. Which is awesome. So good things happen to those who wait, Lothaire gets to know happyness again with his bride. And now his attention will be centered towards the good most of the time. And who new about the little surprise at the end would be a shocker. I sure didn't.

Lots of people getting closer and closer to BINGO. But, this week's shelf: 'paranormal-mystery' http://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/p... doesn't seem to be super helpful for any one team, which is good. Don't want the game to end too quickly.
I'm not sure, but I'll probably pick up with the next book in Laurie's Psychic Eye Mysteries series. I stopped with #4 last year b/c the main character made me mad. ;) Hopefully #5 will be good. I'll let ya know if I change my mind. Will start when I'm done with my current read.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! :D

So I had a look at the shelf but nothing's really jumping out at me, probably because I'm not a huge fan of paranormal-mystery and also that I'm really into the Weather Wardens right now and don't want to stop :/

I only have the last book to read in the Psychic Eye series - I can't believe they released that in hardcover. Like you, Steph, I almost gave up with the series with book 3 (I hated that book) but I actually liked book 4 and book 5 was really good.
I can always read book #2 for the Dresden files but let me see if I find #9 the Psychic Eye series in one of my libraries.

*blinks* (looks at the spreadsheet again) I think Teams 2 and 12 would disagree with that statement. ;-)

So when can you find out how the other teams are doing?

Anyhow, most likely I'll read Deeply, Desperately or Dresden #2.
Neither of my libraries has Psychic Eye #9 in ebook form and no way I'm paying $10.99 to buy it on Amazon.

Thanks, Vi!
