Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments It feels like reverse-reverse psychology haha

Sandra | 25908 comments Love all our new looks :D

I so get the reverse-reverse psychology. I do that to myself frequently. I like to have a book name for all the categories and then I change them because I'm not in the mood.

Thanks Steph :)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Yeah, I signed up for some year long challenges in December for the new year, and I don't think I'll come close to finishing them. The two I'm thinking of we aren't allowed to change our choices (which I didn't know and so I picked ahead), now I'm stuck! haha

I won't do that again!

message 157: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I picked very carefully for Mt TBR Challenge, which we can't change books on. Got 4 or 5 books left to read there and they are all books I still want to read, just haven't gotten to yet.

I did one with RRRC we couldn't change and that was tricky.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Don't think I would sign up for a challenge where I couldn't change my books. Unless I could post them as I read them. That would work for me! I rarely (yet) manage to plan my books ahead of time. I just read what I'm gonna read and fit it in as best as I can!

message 159: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited Jul 20, 2011 09:22PM) (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yeah, it certainly doesn't suit everyone, but then that was the challenge. Reading 5 or 25 books you couldn't change.

Rosina | 1714 comments Hello ladies. Just at the end of a camping trip and saw the updates. My choice is Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs. Will start when I get home late tonight.

message 184: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments Welcome back Zina...hope camping was fun. :)

Just a reminder guys, you have to do all 3R's (read, rate, and review) for us to get credit. Please post your rate/review links when you are finished reading and we will be set.

message 185: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments How do we post a rate/review link?

I posted a review and said what I rated it, should I do more?

message 186: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments No just reminding us all, no worries. :) Your comments above are your review, yes? That is what I assumed.

message 187: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Oh okay :) I thought for a second we had to do a full review LOL

Yeah my review is above :)

message 188: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yay! Glad you enjoyed Catching Fire, Sarah. That was a fave of mine out of the three.

Double YAY! Sandra's reading Cass! :D

message 189: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I know the books have a lot of hype so I think that's why I waited to read it but it was great!

message 190: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments They can - sometimes to the point where you aren't sure if it can live up to it all. Glad you enjoyed it. That really is a fun trilogy.

message 191: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments And that is why I haven't picked up the trilogy yet. The more the hype, the less I want to pick that up. In fact, I bought the DTB (very rare) and gave it to my brother w/o even opening them. He read it and liked it though.

message 192: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I know what you mean. It took me a while to pick them up too. I think you'll find you'll enjoy them whenever you decide to dive in. :)

message 193: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Vi, it does have a lot of hype, but it's a really quick read so you should just read the first one and see how you feel. If you don't like it then at least it won't take a big chunk out of any of the other books you could read.

message 194: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I know. I keep thinking - sooo many people have liked it. Given that I'm a very forgiving reader, I should like it too. But I really should pick it up soon. Maybe August will be the lucky month.

Sandra | 25908 comments Steph wrote: "Double YAY! Sandra's reading Cass! :D "

Yes, on page 240 and enjoying it immensely. Very interesting as I've read Dorie's books first, seeing Louis-Cesare and Mircea in a different light, so to speak.

message 196: by Dana (last edited Jul 28, 2011 12:00AM) (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments OK, so I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to read Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward today for my '4-star' read.

Even though I wasn't blown away, I did really enjoy it.

Read 07/24/2011 ★ ★ ★ ½

Well, I can see why so many people enjoy this series. It was lots of fun. Totally predictable, but lots of fun. I'm hoping that the main series-long plot starts to develop a bit more depth as we go through the books though. If the whole series is as predicable as this then boredom might set in...not good. I did like Ward's writing though. She did seem to be making a real effort to interject 'street talk' for lack of a better term. It felt a bit forced at moments, but I still enjoyed the banter between characters.

I did like that some time was spent commenting on the other warriors so that you got a bit of a tease for the future. The addition to their group at the end was cool. Overall, I found the book enjoyable and will continue to read the next books in the series.

I felt the same way. I enjoyed it but I don't think it lived up to the hype in my opinion, but I'll probably continue with the series.

Zaanodes | 804 comments Finished B3:4 star Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins (7/24 way too late to post!)

★ ★ ★ ★ I really didn't want to read these books. All the hype, YA, etc. etc. Then for a challenge (BSB R2), I read the first one. Then I really wanted to read the 2nd right away but due to other challenges, $$$, etc. etc., I put it off. Still concerned about the hype and YA, I hesitated to choose it for this round...after finishing Catching Fire late last night, I bought book:Mockingjay|7260188] first thing this morning and have already started it. Not waiting for a challenge, said forget the $$, etc., etc.

But, boy, did I cry, get angry, laugh, and cried some more. Had to put it down. Went back to it. Rinse and repeat...Tissues, please!
