BOOKS AND WRITINGS BY MEMBERS

I am doing a giveaway of autographed paperbacks of Boomerang, running through Friday, October 14th. Just purchase the ebook version, which costs either 71p or $0.99, depending on which side of the Atlantic you happen to be, and then stop by Boomerang's Home on the Web to let me know where you got your ebook (it is available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Sony, Apple, Smashwords or Kobo) and why you think it would be cool to have the paperback too. Maybe you would like to give it as a gift, or you think it would be neat to have a really, really rare book on your shelf or nightstand. Doesn't matter, you just need to give a reason.
Then, on Saturday, October 15th, 2011 I will put all the names from the UK in Odie's supper bowl and whichever one he pulls out first will win the autographed paperback. Then I'll put all the names from the US in the bowl and the performance will repeat itself. Two winners, one from each side of the Atlantic.
Here is where you can find Boomerang's Home on the Web.
http://boomerangbyalanhutcheson.blogs...
Links to all the places you can purchase Boomerang can be found there, along with lots of reader reviews, sample chapters and even a sneak peak at the next book featuring the main characters from Boomerang.
Thanks! Alan

Stairs of Sand
A story of a perfectionist mother and a free-spirited adult daughter at odds over how life should be lived.
Perfect for fall: Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead; YA, multicultural. A positive book about family and challenges to the teenager, Marisol.
I have it marked women's fiction, but two men have written to me about how much they liked the book!

Thanks for this opportunity to tell the Group about my thriller Take No More

The back cover reads like this:
My name is James Blake.
A single act turns my life upside down. I come home to find my wife, Julia, shot and bleeding. She dies in my arms.
The police are no help. I'm sure they're trying to fit me up for the murder.
I check Julia's messages and find just one. It says 'help me'. It comes with a strange, old image of a woman being seduced. It's all I have to go on. That and the fact that someone is trying to kill me.
But I will find Julia's killers, no matter what it takes.
4.7/5 in 11 reviews at amazon.com
Two of the reviews I'm most pleased with are the following from established authors Rebecca Forster and John Harding
Rebecca Forster described 'Take No More' as a 'modern noir'. Here is an extract:
'......It was a few pages before I realized what I was reading: a sort of modern noir. I walked in the hero's shoes, was privy to his thoughts and intruded on his emotions as he was drawn into the mystery of his wife's death. Kirby's spare yet rich prose, his perfect word choices, made this a work that appeared to be effortlessly constructed. That seamlessness is the hallmark of a gifted writer. Definitely recommended.'
And here's an extract from John Harding's review:
'The comparisons with Harlan Coben are well merited because this is a gripping thriller in the same vein. It begins with the aftermath of a violent act and doesn't let up until the end..... Well recommended for a quick (there's not enough of it, but I mean that in a nice way) and exciting read.

Here's the blurb:
The only thing hotter than the summers in Phoenix is the temper of a police detective who can’t figure out why young girls keep disappearing. Katalina Wimple is that detective. Her obsession with the missing girls makes her the best person for the job, but it also serves as a refuge from the problems in her own life.
Battling her own demons offers coincidences impossible to ignore. Rescuing the missing girls will require Kat figuring out how much coincidence is too much, as well as fighting her desire for what she can’t have.
It's only available in an ebook format at the moment, and the link to find it at Amazon is here:

A couple of notes concerning my novel Boomerang. I am currently (through Thanksgiving, November 24th) donating all royalties to the Life is good Playmakers Foundation, which does great work helping kids in life challenging situations.

I'm new to the group, so if I'm posting this under the wrong topic, I'm sorry.
I'm the author of the SF novel, The Staff of Rahgorra. I'm looking for people to review the novel. I'm offering a free ebook copy (in any format) from Smashwords.com in exchange for an honest review. I'm also more than willing to do review swaps. If you're interested, please let me know. Thank you, Mark
The Staff of Rahgorra
Another time, another galaxy. The mysterious crime lord Thrull has aspirations beyond controlling the underworld in a single corner of the galaxy. Thrull wants to bring the galaxy under one rule and build a legitimate Galactic Empire. For years he has been training an army of his followers and building his own private Armada. But he knows he must also find the Staff of Rahgorra, a weapon of mythic power.
To keep Thrull from finding the Staff the Galactic Security Bureau, peacekeepers of the galaxy, has pressed back into service a banished agent. Chameleon Del Rey was expelled from the GSB for avenging the death of a friend and for practicing the forbidden art of Jai Kin. Now he must train a young apprentice to use Jai Kin and find the Staff of Rahgorra before Thrull does in order to avoid a war that will stretch across the galaxy.

My new novel, Malice, is now available on Amazon. It's a paranormal thriller. Here's the description:
Something unspeakable is murdering the townspeople of Millingham and only seventeen-year-old Lysander Shore knows what it is. A dark shadow that can possess its victims and force them into grisly acts of suicide. Lysander knows because he has seen it and he's pretty sure it saw him too.
Now he can't shake the eerie feeling he's being watched. And when his friends and neighbors begin to die under mysterious circumstances, he knows his only hope is to uncover what the shadow wants.
Lysander's frantic search for answers leads him to a dark secret. One that traces back to a witch's brutal torture and execution 350 years before. A secret about himself Lysander never knew. A secret he wishes he could forget.

The Time Cavern: Book one in the acclaimed series
THE MYSTERY BEGAN A HUNDRED YEARS AGO. IT WAS NEVER SOLVED. NOW IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN.
When ten-year-old Aaron moved from the big city to the country, he thought it was a boring sleepy town. Then he met Jake, a know-it-all farm girl who said his house was haunted. She claimed an Amish boy disappeared without a trace after hearing the wind call his name. Aaron thought she was just trying to scare him...until the night he heard his own name in the wind.

I've been very fortunate with reviews, but I find I'm expecially thrilled by the reader comments here at Goodreads.

five star reviews on Amazon, here's one of six:
Animals Don't Blush was one of the most enjoyable books that I have read! I read it it one sitting and could not put it down until I finished. The Author seems like a kind and witty man and he make you feel like you right there with him as he makes his Vet rounds and meets the people of Sidney, MT and environs circa 1960.
I highly recommend this book for all types of readers, not just animal lovers.

Recently I put out my epic fantasy novel A Sign in Blood

While investigating her father's murder, Chadri never meant to get involved in politics. She arrives in Mesaceal with her mentor Nathias and a wild talent for blood magic, but soon finds it won't be enough to stop a brutal attack on her family home. After befriending a queen who is forced to fight to win her crown, and learning of rumors about the theft of a sleeping god, Chadri is caught up in a web of conflict spanning two nations. Trapped within the tightening threads, she must unravel the secrets surrounding her father's death, or die the same way he did.

Here is a press release related to my book "Time Will Tell"
“Time Will Tell” is a revealing and deeply personal account of Elegunde’s life – a story that was not easy for him to tell, but one that he felt compelled to share. He says, “This book is the result of nearly 6 years of me writing down my memories of events that had played on my mind for close to 30 years. Writing and completing this story was very therapeutic for me.”
Parental childhood abduction, a prevalent and recurring issue in society, certainly takes its toll on the life of the child involved. Elegunde’s autobiography reveals to readers the lasting effects and the personal struggles of what it is like to grow up as the child in this unfortunate situation.
