Mathieu Gallant (Entropiated) | 19 comments My debut novel, Outage, is now for sale on Smashwords.com (https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...). As Virginia said, they seem much pickier about how they want things. That's not necessarily bad, though. For serious readers, presentation is important. I spent a couple days formatting and getting it just so. I found it a rewarding experience. It also helped me do some more fine-tuning (is an author's work EVER done?) I'm hoping to make it into their premium catalogue... the jury's still out on that one. Anyway, it's the same price as the Amazon.com version ($0.99), so it's all the same to me either way. But I haven't sold a Smashwords copy yet and I'd like to get rid of the big ol' goose egg.

Pax Rolfe Fine...since you asked.

Here's my sexy little sci-fi adventure.

Fifty One Provenance by Pax Rolfe
Adam wasn't born, he was created. Commissioned by the “Men in Black” in an Above Top Secret project concealed deep beneath Area 51. Scientists using recovered alien DNA succeeded in creating the perfect weapon. Stronger, faster, and smarter than any human in existence, Adam is to be the tip of the spear, but a spear aimed at what?

Educated and beautiful, Kate Harper is a CIA shooter, formerly of the protective services, now consulting on security at the Groom Lake base. She speaks six languages, can throw a punch, shoot a gun, and knows how to fight her way out of an ambush.

Serendipitously thrust together in a passionate encounter, fueled by powerful alien pheromones. Kate is recruited to be Adam's companion and guide in the world of humanity outside of Groom. A world he has only seen from afar.

Their fates intertwined, and with further knowledge of their alien foe. They will live, love, and fight until the shadowy alien oligarchy, subjugating the earth, has been defeated...or die trying

Pax Rolfe

C.L. I have written The Reboot Files, a series of Christian Mysteries. They are ebooks which are posted on amazon and barnes and noble. I have included links.
The stories involve the adventures of Irene Waters, a once promising Christian reporter, and her cameraman the brilliant but reckless Troy Stenson. Through a series of separate misfortunes they find themselves working on a cheesy paranormal investigation show called Irene’s Eerie Adventures. Worse, they work for Reboot, a television station better known for hiring the rejects of the legitimate media than the quality of their programing. The first book is called the Mystery of Hurtleberry House involving a supposed haunted house.
It is posted on amazon.com and Barnes and Nobles http://www.amazon.com/Mystery-Hurtleb...
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-...
The second book is called The Island of Living Trees. Irene and Troy find themselves on “cursed” island where the trees are supposedly kidnapping people and turning them into trees.
http://www.amazon.com/Island-Living-T...
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-...
The third book is titled The Harbinger of Retribution. This time the Reboot crew find themselves in the small town of Redemption to do a story on an impressively sinister looking statue which is supposed to have a curse. The only problem is no one can agree on what the curse is supposed to do.
http://www.amazon.com/Harbinger-Retri...
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/books...
They are more Scooby Doo than chills and thrills, and definitely share the gospel in what I think is a fun way. I also have other samples of my other writings, including my blog, on my profile page if you are interested.

Mathieu Gallant (Entropiated) | 19 comments Cameron,

Is this your first book? If not, have you had any luck in the past trying to trade free copies for reviews? I gotta say, I've tried that myself and it didn't work for s*%$. Pretty sad when you can't even give it away. Good luck, though.

Marja McGraw (marja1) | 569 comments I know I mentioned earlier that a new book came out, but I had two out this year (two different series) and I can't remember which one I mentioned.

So, Old Murders Never Die Old Murders Never Die by Marja McGraw came out in July, and it's about a female P.I. and her partner being stranded in a ghost town haunted by old murders. By the way, I created my own book cover on this one.

The other one, Bogey Nights, Bogey Nights by Marja McGraw came out in March. It's about an amateur P.I. who bears a striking resemblance to Humphrey Bogart. This is the first book in a new series.

They're both a lot of fun and I hope you have time to check them out.

Maggi Andersen | 33 comments Alison, You might enjoy my YA WAVING AT THE MOON.
In a post-apocalyptic world, Evie French has just turned seventeen. She and her cousin, Marcus Peters, sixteen, struggle to survive after being left alone in their parent's bed and breakfast hotel in outback Australia. An endless drought has killed Evie's father's avocado trees and all the surrounding habitation. Nothing grows in the fetid soil. Hope comes in the form of a nineteen year old boy, Joel Pitt. He arrives on his motorbike with his dog, Rasputin, bringing supplies. He climbs the tallest tree on the crest of the hill, and locates an area of green down along the coast, hundreds of miles away. The three pile onto the bike, with Marcus and Rasputin in the sidecar, and embark on a trip that will take them over mountainous terrain with a limited supply of food and water. What might they find if they reach the coast? Will other people have survived the devastation? And who bombed their country? No one seems to know.

Mathieu Gallant (Entropiated) | 19 comments Thought I'd post some of the reviews I've received so far for my first novel, Outage (http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...). As you'll see, they haven't been edited in any way.
Here goes:

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes you to places we all wonder about., September 12, 2011
By Ron – See all my reviewsThis review is from: Outage (Kindle Edition)
The old saying “You don’t know what you have till it is gone” sure fits the Novel Outage.Mr Gallants way with words makes you think as you are reading. Even tho’ I only read the first chapter, I found myself reading slowly so nothing would be missed. I felt a need to absorb the material as I see it being important later in the novel. Sorry if I jumped the gun on giving a review after one chapter but the urge to give a review took ahold of me. I will keep you up dated as I go.
Hell for 99 cents, I got that much out of the prolog. Mr Gallant has a unique style of writting and at times his wording was close to poetry.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, could have been better, September 4, 2011
By gjwolfswinkel – See all my reviewsAmazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Outage (Kindle Edition)
Not a bad read, but it could have been better. On the plus side: the story is interesting and hase a few nice developments. On the down side: the book could have benefitted from an editor, as it’s too long winded in some places, and a bit too short in others. The writing itself isn’t really great either, with lots of descriptive writing and little dialogue (or written down thoughs), but the story intrigued me enough to finish reading it. Given the price, I don’t regret buying and reading it, but there’s room for improvement on the writers’side. I hope he does improve though, as I am kind of interested in a part II

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS is a good read!!!, August 18, 2011

This review is from: Outage (Kindle Edition)
I was surprised by this book. The cover had me fooled into thinking it would be a calm outing.
It was anything, but! I was on the edge of my seat most of the time.
It made me want to stock up on batteries and candles…. again! Remember Y2K?
Every time I put it down, I couldn’t wait to pick up where I had left off.
This is a lot of entertainment for only .99 cents! Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

*****************

From Ronald Newton, via email:

I have finished reading your work. I enjoyed it and thought its ending was remarkable. I didn’t see it coming. There’s no problem with your writing. The formatting of your work was lousy in my opinion. It distracted me during the reading. Please use white space between paragraph. One extra line would have made a tremendous difference in reading ease and pleasure.

Here is one from my new release.

Ocean life

Cooling breezes whisper
rustling leaves that talk
weathered trees of history
where crustaceans walk

Crystal ocean rolling
shades of blue or green
vibrant coral colours
paint a living scene

Mother oceans stories
moonlight shadows swell
gentle waves are speaking
hidden tales they tell

Vessels, rocking, thrashing
stronger winds now wail
heaving closer daily
ancient people sail

Virgin sand they’re walking
in this morning dew
feasting seafood’s freshness
toasting life anew

September 10, 2011 By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) -

As the world falls to pieces, evil will flourish and only the bold will dare stand in its way. "The Dark Age: Survivors of the Pulse" is set on a post apocalyptic Earth. Ferrell Young of the Warrior Clan takes up a duty for the church to recover an important book. He races against Barbaric warlord Kraken, who is looking to end any power to oppose him as lord of the world. "The Dark Age" is a riveting blend of science fiction and fantasy, recommended reading.

message 794: by Thad (new)

Thad Brown Blogger and Goodreads author Giovanni Gelati has done a number of "Author's Lab" collaborations, published by Trestle Press as short e-stories, each with another Trestle Press author. He and I did one, "Thad and the G-Man's Most Awesome Adventure," earlier this year; it's totally tongue-in-cheek, an exercise in zany humor as most (but not all) of these collaborations are. (Here's the Goodreads description: Thad And The G-Man's Most Awesome Adventure.) Now, TP has published a couple of collections of these; the second one, the Ultimate Six-Pack II, contains this story. Through the rest of this month, as a promotion to introduce the six co-authors here to readers, the publisher has authorized us to give away an electronic copy of the Six-Pack II collection free to anyone who wants one. If you're interested, or want more information, don't reply on this thread; just message me (or any other TP author), and we can send a copy as an attachment to your e-mail address!

I've also been asked to let people know that through this month, TP has another offer: buy any TP e-story (including any of mine), e-mail gelati.giovanni@gmail.com or message any TP author with proof of purchase, and you can have a second story of equal price for free! (These usually sell for 99 cents on Amazon's kindle, Nook, Smashwords, etc.; I don't know the usual price on Amazon UK.)
