Now that Frankenstein is out of the way, Odd is making for a comeback :-)

Of course I do. I couldn't live with out it. I look forward to the next issue for month and everyday I think I wonder if today is the day that Useless News will arrive. You should get some Useless News also - here's how:

I'm going to write Koontz a letter :)
- but i don't know at which adress I have to sent the letter?
And on what should I pay attention, when I sent the letter?
is it ok when I use a standard envelope - write the adress on it, put the letter in it and send it?

so, this is the right adress?
Dean Koontz
PO Box 9529
Newport Beach, California 92658
hopefully I got also a nice reply from him back :)

He always responds to snail mail typically with a handwritten note :-) and by writing to Dean Koontz you get on his Useless News mailing list so he will send you his quarterly newsletter with updates.
The Newport Beach PO BOX is the Correct Mailing Address and is listed in the back of each book Dean Koontz writes :-)

Really? Maybe I should write to John. By the way, in The Manhattan Hunt Club we are going to read The Right Hand of Evil in February... We haven't done a group read there for several months so this is really exciting. Are you interested in joining the evil fun? Click below to RSVP:

Ah 40 books sitting on the shelve is nothing. Take some time out for Evil - it'll be fun :-) Maybe is one step toward Yes. Thanks Kyle!

..and hopefully my letter will arrive deans house without problems.. because it is a long way for the letter from Austria to California ;)

I didn't think about Dean's mailing address not being in the back of his books in other countries. FYI: To my knowledge, Dean only sends his Useless News Newsletter to fans in North America (United States and Canada) (of course I don't know everything - that's just what I remember from my memory) Anyway, I'm sure your letter will reach it's destination :-)

its not so tragic, that I dont get the Useless News - a personal written letter and maybe an autograph is the only thing I want - and hopefully I get it :)
Thanks Kyle - next week I'm going to send the letter! :)

one last question, then I'm happy :)
Do I have to pay the return postage?
Or does Dean Koontz pay for the shipping/dispatch of the letter that he will write to me?

I don't know how these international affairs work, but I would assume Dean would pay postage when he responds :-)

Well, if I didn't get my Useless News, it would be a tragedy for me! :-) I really look forward to receiving Useless News.

I got a letter 4 personal lines on it and the book "a big little life"! :)
he has written in it: "To Markus, some angels have fur instead of wings!"
(because I was writing about my dog which I lost two years ago)
a very very nice and beautiful gesture from Dean Koontz!
Here are the pictures, if you have facebook:

Markus, that is so cool!
I hung the note I received from Koontz on the bulletin board over my desk so I can look at it whenever I sit down to write.

Oh I'm sure that's inspiring.

glad to hear that some of you are also at the Dean Koontz Community Forum - I sent there my pictures so that everybody can see it who hasn't a facebook account! :)

The note he wrote to you is almost the same as the one he wrote to me. Form notes within a form letter! lol

I joined, but it's a whole new reality to get used to so it may be a while before I get adventurous and participate more in the DKC :-)

:-) no need to wait that long. Dean has written a lot of books that are still in print so you would be waiting a long time unless you really go on a Koontz Kick, but reading that many Dean Koontz books back to back is not recommended.
Write to him soon so you'll be on his Useless News mailing list. Just a short note will do :-)

I only have two or three more books of his to read and a biography. I've read 13 of his books back to back recently.

Be careful. That much Koontz can be very dangerous! It's okay to read another author if it gets to be too much for your mind to handle. As Koontz addicts, we understand and are here to help :-)

Just do it :-) It doesn't have to be a great masterpiece. I just wrote him a short hand-written note and he returned the favor. If you write to him you will get his newsletter called Useless News and likely get something back with his signature.

I have a question.....
Out of The Servants of Twilight, Strange Highways, One Door Away From Heaven, and The Key to Midnight, which do you recommend I read first?

I would recommend "One Door Away From Heaven" I like that book so much that I tattooed the title on my left arm :-) "By the Light of the Moon" is of course tattooed on my right arm.

Ha--you are Crazy, little brown owl.

Unfortunately, I have not received any other Useless News mailings and wondered if maybe I had just not made it onto the mailing list or if there had been a break in the publication of the newsletter?
That's how he gets his writing time in.
