Whew thank you so much Jennifer for letting me know..I thought I still could be ok for another day or so but wanted to make sure because I swear ya'll this past week I just been not so much sick as just medicine head from meds been taking for being sick and not able to really concentrate on my reading ya know?Bear with me teamies and I will try to get both books read this week and get back up to par. Ya'll rawk! ((Big hugs n Much Loves))
The only book I can think of off the top of my head for this week is
it gets setting (in Colorado) and name (Eric) for 11 points. Not sure if it gets cover. Didn't look at list LOL
OK, I've looked and looked and I haven't been able to find anything better point-wise than the 12-point book Kattibrie has suggested. It has shelf, cover, plot and setting.
It's a re-read, but a favourite and short, so that's perfectly fine with me :)
I have a question about plot on the general discussion thread. If it's approved, I'll read
for 9 points.
A group of friends who hang out at a bookstore that on of them owns and they end up with these guys who work for this private investigative thing. They're kind of silly, but not bad.
Have you read
Susan? Was wondering if it would be a fit for setting and plot as well because I am supposed to start that series this month anyhow and didn't want to read them out of order.

Hehe, I think I'm gonna go with it too - it's high time I read it, anyway...
JenniferJ, I'm sorry you've been sick, I hope you'll feel better soon! :)
I've read the first two Rock Chick books. They all take place in Colorado so yes, you get setting. And YES for plot. Lots of wacko things happen in. :) Enjoy!!
Week 4 Cheers

I'm still not sure what to think about this book. It started slowly, then it got better and at the end turned out a little cheesy and cliche. On the other hand though, the first twist was surprising. All I can say for sure is that it didn't feel that sci-fi-ish, more like a thriller, but I still have to remember that it was written back in the '80s...
Points:
Name - Norman Kent, the main character (he's called "Norm" one time by an old friend) - 5
Setting - Published in 1982 - 6*
Total points: 11
*NOTE: I know that on it's GR page says that this book was first published in 1983, but all the other sources say it's 1982. I can prove that if needed!
Finally! Sorry again it took me so long to finish this. It's been a crazy week at uni and on top of that the book was a slow read at the beginning! I hope I'll do better with this week's one. :)
Week 5South Park
Book:
Date finished: 07.04
Rating: 3/5
OK, I liked that book but I still don't see what all the fuss is about. It's just a light read not some kind of a masterpiece. To be fair though it's better than some of the other YA books I've read that were outright annoying. I think the change to get hooked on the series is minimal, but I'll read the other books anyway. I may still change my mind. ;)

Well, I read Harry Potter as well today :)South Park
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
Date finished: April 7th
Rating: 4 stars
I love Harry Potter! Re-reading this first book again, I see how it would likely fail to knock someone over today - especially with the surge in YA literature and if you know the ending... I personally resisted reading the series out of pure spite when it came out (something about beooks/movies being too hyped, don't ask ;), but I finally gave in when the English bookstore in Bruxelles where I lived at the time, really didn't have anything else... This was when book 4 had just been published - I read this book on the Friday night, went back Saturday to get book 2 and 3 and then went back Monday and spent a very large part of my allowance on getting the newly published hardback copy of book 4! :) So, I've been a fan for years and I think it's a wonderful series with something special... But that said, this first book is definitely the "youngest" and by far the best :)
Points:
Shelf: Just for Fun (1 points)
Cover: Mountains/School (2 points)
Plot: Bizarre adventures - boy discovers he's a wizard and craziness ensues :) (3 points)

Review: I have loved this series on TV for so long but just never got started on the series in book form yet. I started reading Dead Until Dark a couple years ago but for some reason I never got around to finishing it so here we are again and I am so thrilled I did because the book is so much better than the tv show which is usually the way. Sookie is more tougher in the books in my opinion and not as "dorky" as on the show. Kinda like Stephanie Plum only with vampires! I would hate to have Sookie's ability reading minds though because I just cringe at some of the stuff I may hear that I just would rather not know! LOL
Points:
Shelf: Yes = 1 points
Cover: Drink (Can of TrueBlood) = 2 pointsPlot: Character owns bar = 3 points

Kattibrie wrote: "LOL Jennifer, is this book really that good? I'm saving it for the True blood week... ;)"I felt it was because it's more detailed than the tv show was and it just has a more different feel to it. I'm weird anyhow though. LOL
I read the series several years ago and liked it through most of them. The last couple of books were stretching it for me. I heard she has finally finished the series. I may have to read the last book (and I think I have the one before it to read too) just to see what happens to Sookie.
Rock Chick Redemption by Kristen Ashley
Date finished: 4/9/13
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I liked this so much more than the first two in the series! Roxie wasn't as hard headed as Indy was ;) she was very agreeable and listened to reason without arguing too much. I'll give it to KA, she writes heroines with spunk :)
Hank was another great alpha-male hero. He wasn't too over bearing and was just the right amount of protective. He had to be a great guy to deal with Roxie's parents lol
I found myself laughing out loud at parts of this, which is always a plus when I'm reading. My only complaint is they never said "I love you". Sure, Roxie made the big confession that her life didn't start till she met Hank, but they never said the words.

At least this week's easy! I'll be reading

Review: I have been meaning to start this series for a while as alot of friends keep telling me they are very good and I did like Rock Chick alot but found Indy really annoying. She's so doggone hard headed you wanna smack her seriously! The story was funny and flowed well and boy oh boy how could she wanna take it "slow" with Liam after she has been in love with him like her entire life and now FINALLY here he is serving himself up on a silver platter and her acting all stupid?

Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
Date finished: 4/14/13
Rating 3.5 stars
Review: 3.5 stars
After reading books 9 and 10 in this series, I swore I wasn't going to read anymore. However, I picked this up cause of a game/challenge I'm participating in and I'm actually glad I read it. It was better than the previous ones and it's leading to the ending of the series.
Sookie found out some things in here about herself and the people she loves that have made her stop and wonder what she's doing. I'm curious as to what she's going to do and wether (view spoiler). So I guess I'll have to read the next one LOL

Date finished: 18.04

I didn't like this one (but please don't hate me ;) ). That's why I don't read anything from the PNR genre. The whole concept is just ridiculous - back in my day vampires used to be blood-sucking monsters, not date humans and stuff... Aside from that, this book itself is nothing special style-wise, I didn't much like any of the characters (even Sookie but that may be because her telepathy isn't "real" telepathy). I had high hopes for the mystery part of the book (given that Harris has written some cozy mystery series) but I had no such luck - the mystery was practically non-existent. I think I'll continue with the series only if I need it badly for some hard challenge...
