I promise I am reading. I left my book at work yesterday but I read what I could via googlebooks and the Amazon search feature. I'm about half-way through and will try to finish it tonight.
OK here's my review finally: ♬ Week 1 Song: "Roxanne" by The Police (1978)
4 stars 9/11/12
This is very entertaining series. I love the 1920's setting. This is a favorite time period of mine. I am a bit worried that it's going to turn into 20 books of a "romance" with Alec and Daisy that never really goes anywhere which is common with cozies and gets tedious. (cough Hannah Swenson cough cough). I've resisted the urge to read reviews and spoil the rest of the series. So crossing my fingers that the main characters will actually progress in their lives as the series continues.
song connection: multiple police department characters.
Neat review, Mary. I love a good mystery, but I understand what you mean about the **coughcouch** HS series. I know CaroB is going to ask you to bold something.
Lisa Kay knows me too well :-) It would be really helpful if you could bold some part of your reviews, just to make them stand out a little more from casual comments or posts.
I love how colourful the dance card stamp is. Next shelf/song is up.

I'm just on my way to bed so I think I'll wait until tomorrow until I decide on my book for this week.
I can't wait to see what you ladies choose to read. I have a feeling that my to-read list will be gaining a few new books on it by the time this game is over :)
I'm going to read Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh. The main character is a hunter and I'm pretty sure one of the others is an assassin.
I need to change my book. I really thought I had Damsel on my IPOD. But I don't and the library system only has 1 copy. It might take me a week to get it in as the library that has it is not near by. So off to find something else.
Well I should know better than to trust my library website to sort its books right. I just looked up the author Carola Dunn and it brought up other versions of the book including one that's supposed to be at my locak library. When I searched by title it showed me 1 copy of the book in the whole system when there's really over 30. So sticking to Damsel in Distress.
Yes, I feel for you, Mary. My library just revamped things. It is bugging me. I was used to the old system.
LOL I was just looking at the dance cards and I love how the little person is now colored in, BUT think our card is not sooooo pretty LMBO. I really like the purple, pink and blue cards though ☺
CaroB wrote: "Is it just the orange colour Robin?"LMBO yeah I'm not a big orange fan...but being from TN you would think I would like the color orange because that is the University of Tennessee's color...orange/white. On second thought, maybe that is why I don't like the color orange because it is everywhere in TN LMBO
♥Robin ♥ wrote: "CaroB wrote: "Is it just the orange colour Robin?"LMBO yeah I'm not a big orange fan...but being from TN you would think I would like the color orange because that is the University of Tennessee'..."
But that's such an ugly shade of orange, Robin. LOL it's not nearly as pretty as that Crimson color I like ;)
I'll probably switch my book again. I got Damsel because it fit into another challenge. But that ends tomorrow and I won't get it read in time. Sooo, it's going back to the library. I need to read my own print books for awhile. I'm also playing bookshelf bingo. I'm hoping whatever shelf is called tomorrow will have something I can also use for this. But if not, then I'll come up with something else and get it read before the next song.
I'm about 60% done with my book for week 2. It has actually turned out better than I had thought it would be when I selected it. How are the rest of you doing? Good Luck Mary.

I am trying to fit books into this challenge too that I am reading for other challenges and so far all's well lol but that could change with next week's song pick.

Yeah yeah yeah....Crimson Tide...my step dad is a Crimson fan too, born and raised with that elephant in his blood LOLOL ☺ But I must admit it is an ugly shade of orange.
Hi ladies!! Hope everyone's reading is going well. I am switching books...I am switching to
because I need it for another challenge and will be finished with this one before I get finished with
. I didn't realize
was published in the 90's till now LOL

Review:UGGGGGGHHHHHH.....one word to describe this book is YUCK!!!!I am certainly not the proper audience to give this book a fair review. I really don't care for thrillers and I definitely don't care for politics lol. It's bad enough to hear/read about real life politics(which I don't care for) much less read a book about politics when I'm supposed to be doing it for pleasure. If I didn't need this book for a challenge it would have definitely been a DNF for me but as painful as it was I stuck with it until the end. This was a well written book full of action/adventure/thrills but just not my genre. I have read some books by John Grisham that I did enjoy so it isn't the author it was just the subject/topic of the book that I didn't like. If you like the political/thriller basis then you would probably thoroughly enjoy this book.
Well as it happens the first bookshelf bingo shelf was kick-ass heroine. I couldn't find anything that works for it and this. But for the free space I can use:
which works for this weeks song.
Oh, Anne! I've done that with a book - woken in the middle of the night to continue it! LOL! Only on GRs would someone understand. Neat review, BTW.
Awwwwwww, Robin! That's too bad. I ♥ JG...and that book. Sorry you didn't. I didn't like the politics in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, so I understand. Maybe next time. Neat review!
I'm finished with my week two book :)♬ Week 2 Song: "Killing Me Softly" by The Fugees (1996)
Book: Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh

Review: I loved the world created for this book. Angels are the ones who turn humans into vampires? It was something I’ve not come across before and I liked how the human, vampire and angel worlds all interacted within the one society. There were other little things that I liked because they added to the differences between the real world and that of the Guild Hunters – like the earrings signifying marital status.
I was slightly disappointed with the romance. I couldn’t understand why Raphael and Elena would want the other – Raphael is an immortal who has been alive for thousands of years and yet for some reason he unexplainably wants Elena who he constantly refers to as his toy. I never really felt like he wanted her as anything more than a plaything. And Elena is drawn to Raphael but she puts that down to his incredible lethal beauty and angelic powers. She even goes as far as to suggest that he enjoys rape after they share a brutal kiss… and then makes out with him a few days after that. I couldn’t believe that Elena, the woman who claims that she would put her life on the line for her sister-in-all-but-blood, Guild Director Sara, would engage in a sexual relationship with the man who was threatening Sara’s daughter’s life every couple of chapters. It just did not compute for me.
By the time end of the novel came around I was hoping that I could believe in the two of them as a couple but I didn’t feel like any of their previous issues was resolved. They weren’t a romantic couple in my eyes and I wouldn’t put it past either one to stab the other one in the back when they weren’t looking.
In terms of drama and action – there’s a lot going on. There were a lot of characters introduced and a lot of mystery still involved regarding them. With respect to the minor characters, I would consider reading the next book in the series.
*SONG LINK - This book has a character who was an assassin.
Yeah, Kate. I totally agree with you. Raphael is a little too brutal for me. I'm sticking with the series, because I love NS, but I'm taking it reallllllllly slow.

I've never read a John Grisham novel before but have seen many movie adaptations of his books. I think I like the movies because there's enough action and other stuff that the politics is secondary and doesn't require as much attention. To be honest, I don't really think I understand the US political and justices systems at all...

I usually like the book better than the movie...but I think I will have to follow you on this one and say I would probably like the movie more than the book because there would be more going on in the movie so that I could let the politics play second fiddle. Being an American, our political/justice systems still confuses me LOL as it seems the rules of the game change on a daily basis LMBO
