Psshh, I beg to disagree :) granting that you're 'old' (since everybody seem to claim that they're old, so I want to say that I'm not, lol) your work is brilliant, it comes with age :D

Seriously, Ryan, your writing is excellent, it leaves me awestruck most of the time :)

Leslie! I am! So nice to be back! I was just catching up on the thread: OMG, such a great read! The thread is chock a block full of extremely fine writing, far too many to single out. Well, except that I am still not really able to accept that Lilian has just turned 15.

Lol! Thank you, Guy, it has something to do with the makeup or the camera, or something but really, I was so dizzy before that photo was taken, I couldn't even smile! I'm fine, virus free, yey! :)

It's great to have you back. I hope you won't take that break again, well, maybe, just for a day, not more than that :P We've missed you!

The Life Cycle of Words


Cry me a river,
like all colourful word plays,
has become a stale.

Crimea Black Sea,
though hardly as colorful,
once was Taurica

LOL! Brilliant.

Black and white contrast
Yet the fifty shades of grey
Appeals to fashion

in the borderlands
between wrong and right, grey clouds
shadow black and white

your eyes fall into
shadow as your heart falls out
of love with the world

The world felt her love
embrace certitude's shadows
and find herself lost.

her moral compass
spun out of calibration
- she found herself lost

I was inspired
to write a pretty haiku
-was then distracted

I was inspired
to be an Olympian
- then I found bourbon

I was inspired
by the cold sweat on my brow
- then my words went dry.

Dry bourbon is known
To inspire cold sweats and
Olympic egos

I was a bit late to add to Guy's... sorry

Inspired Weeping

faces in the crowd
like unwrung clothes in winter
strangers paid to mourn

I wring out my soul
and hang it on the clothes line;
drying next to my tears.

It's useless to cry
for something gone long ago
but years don't dry tears.

beneath sands of time
bones of past eons slumber
in dry ocean beds

your ocean bed eyes
drown me, taking away all
of my will to live.

laved by a mermaid
far under, I found the jewels
I came to plunder

The same jewels that
fell from the sky the very
same day that you died.

an ocean of jewels,
far more I'd pay, to hold you
close for one more day

just one more chance to
kiss your metallic lips, to
breathe in your vibrance.

copper and jasmine
seep into my sleep, ghost-sent
scents to haunt my dreams
