An orb spider weavesthe ancient staves moonlight scores
with a midnight’s dew,
a dreamless music
of sea caves, the hollow eyes
of a phantom crew.
M - thank you for your comment. What a beautiful continuation, the rhyme is superb.Guy - hi and thanks!
Belly - good observation, it makes me laugh every time.
RotFL! Yes, the greatness of all the 'me's in the world is infinitely less disturbing than the dreck of all those 'them's. M, beautiful.
*you fell from the moon
in your silver skinned glory,
blue eyes round with awe.
kissing you is like kissing
the reflection of the sun.
the moon, he doth wax with eloquenceHe waxed his belly
Until it was mistaken
For the waxing moon
On a starless catless night
With white wine, a dark future.
My momma told meto stay away from stray cats
whose hair has nine dyes,
who stalk the smoky
flats when dusk’s crumbling alleys
gaze with long-lashed eyes.
Thank you Ryan. And ay caramba, that is delightful!M, sublime. So very good!
Another great start to my day. Thank you!
Thank you, Guy!Great 5-7-5’s, Guy and Ryan! Unable to follow the rise and fall of Ziggy and the Spiders, my verse buggy careened off the road and into a slough. I did not despond, however.

with a quick and gentle step.
He kept perfect time.
When the rains came he stayed dry
and sang 'Fly Me to the Moon.'
Great, thanks! 17.30 Saturday night-sitting with a glass of bourbon waiting for my lift into town to see a band. Life is good :)
Ryan, how was the show? What is the band's name?the wind up boy
She bade susurrus,
With a siren's soft whisper,
To dance in his ear,
Bid him strip inhibitions,
Seek her umbrella.
Very nice, Guy and Belly. Both a pleasure to read.Good night out, thanks Guy. The band is called Getaway Plan. They have some clips on YouTube if you're interested.
While we cannonballeddown to the Styx from Dead Man’s
Curve on the high cliff,
my drunk girlfriend snapped
a few end-of-life pics, then
sighed, “Oh, what’s the diff?”
Ryan, great to hear you enjoyed your night out! I thought I read an interesting post from you - made me laugh! Then this morning it was gone. hahahaha :DM!
oh, congrats, M, your poem came in second! Mine was second to last. sniff... oh well, it was fun entering.
oh, there's one member there who went off the rails... and posted her "poem" that was not selected. i wonder if the posts are still there.-o-
Mary, We All Think We Know Your Story
after seeing Mike Leigh's “Another Year”
she snaps dry breadsticks
watches crumbs scatter around
her plate a full moon
... oops this was supposed to follow M's that had a cliff in it
This is beautiful, Jim! To me, this isn’t merely verse, but poetry. That was funny, in the contest’s commentary thread. What I found even more disgusting were the bootlickers who showed up, wagging their fingers.
That sums it up perfectly. I found myself siding with Brigitte (if silently) simply because of the oppression I sensed from her attackers.
Hi, Guy. GP were ok, didn't blow my socks off. It was just nice to be out for a change! I've just been learning to play 'This Year's Love' by David Gray on my guitar. Have you heard it? Now that blows my socks off :). Hope you're well.Hi, M. Congratulations on second place. Just being selected from so many entries is a great achievement and you keep doing it time and again. 'Odyssey' is a stunning poem. I really like your Dead Man's Curve verse, too - very funny images.
Jim! Thanks, and sorry-I thought I got away with the delete before anyone read it....haha! Congratulations to you too, 'End of 2010' is magnificent. I agree with M - 'Mary' is incredibly beautiful.
