M | 11617 comments A person who would tell you never to use shoulds and oughts is a finger-wagging person telling you never to wag your finger.

gents-dominated Haiku thread :D

very nice, captain :)

Lol, M!

Belly, your '575' and '99 horrible things!' are amazing. I agree with Ryan, I'm picking up some inspirations between laughter :)

message 3354: by [deleted user] (new)

Now, I'm curious lol I want to read those too :P

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments M wrote: "A person who would tell you never to use shoulds and oughts is a finger-wagging person telling you never to wag your finger."

Really? I don't think I have ever told anyone not to wag their dog. Interesting.

message 3356: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Belly, I'm laughing even knowing laughter is an inappropriate response to this. It is so clever and sad and funny at the same time.

message 3357: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments Belly, that's hilarious!

message 3358: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments Thank you for writing such awesome haiku!

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments The Rain of Freedom

The splatter of blood
left by the people person
rained over his hands.

message 3360: by M (last edited Jun 14, 2013 04:22AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments It seems clear, as things
worsen, there’s a worm more smooth,
more effectual,

less sincere than a
people person: a fawning
intellectual.

message 3361: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LOL!

message 3362: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Guy and Belly! I'm in an SUV on a bumpy highway, and am typing on an iPad. This computer is nothing like a PC. Perhaps an old dog can indeed learn new tricks.

Bored by the smooth road
inured to the highway's drone
iPad touches me.

Like, like, like M, Belly and Guy :)

Not even close to
a computer, the bumpy
road left me no choice.

message 3366: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments the choicest byte

What was I to choose
that was not the mere remnant
Of roads not taken?

message 3367: by Ryan (last edited Jun 15, 2013 08:40PM) (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments pondering lost roads
fate's dark highways and byways
he noticed shadows
pouring single-malt courage
he flicked on the zombie box

message 3368: by M (last edited Jun 16, 2013 03:31AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Excellent, Ryan! This is the best I can do to follow it on a first cup of coffee.

My throat was parched, my
eyes bleary. I’d not studied
color theory, nor
could describe the bottle. So
I wrote this bloodless twaddle.

message 3369: by [deleted user] (new)

My throat is actually parched and irritated :)

You call that a twaddle? A bit unfair :P

Of course, I still couldn't think of anything to follow the awesome haikus of the gents.

message 3370: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I couldn’t easily follow Ryan’s image-per-line example (which is harder to write but more effective), so I just threw something out there. As young people used to say, “Go for it!” I hope you find something to soothe your throat.

message 3371: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, M! This is my throat's way of 'de-stressing' :)

message 3372: by Guy (last edited Jun 16, 2013 10:49AM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments This is in response to Ryan's. M, yours was not twaddle, and very funny, but Ryan's has been moiling around in me and created this dirge.

what was I thinking?

The ponderosa
was lost to asphalt thoughts,
a straight-edged river
without shadows and stillborn
built by a moribund drunk.

message 3373: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I like the play on the word rare. (Which was rare, to have dinner there, or the steak that was served?)

message 3374: by Ryan (last edited Jun 16, 2013 11:10AM) (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Thanks, M! Great continuation, too.
Sorry for moiling, Guy! 4719 is razor sharp.
Belly, just brilliant...again!
Thank you gents, you have all helped make the 4am bottle a very enjoyable event!

message 3375: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I was watching, and
eager to join. “Give me some
of that tenderloin!”

message 3376: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Understandably, my muse is never happy with me when I let her walk through a mudhole. After the last thing I posted, she’s having a time cleaning her boots.

message 3377: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Ryan, M, Belly, so good, so funny! (Thank you Ryan.) M, your muse is waiting for you to do the rubbing away of the mud. (Don't be late - an unclean muse will be only so patient!)

Now back to the kitchen - I'm on KP duty right now.

message 3378: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Haha! Nice one, M. Very funny start to my morning :)

message 3379: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments raw meeting

Her loin was willing
but mine stayed all too tender
and sadly uncooked.

Welcome, welcome :)

Hi Ryan, belated happy father's day!

Cooked to perfection,
She left nothing but crumbs of
desire and despair.

message 3386: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Wow, Leslie!

message 3387: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Excellent, Leslie :)

message 3388: by [deleted user] (new)

yay, thank you! I'm not even sure if I made sense lol

message 3389: by M (last edited Jun 17, 2013 07:35AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments The night malingers
in smoky notes, the playful
look of her crossed legs.

The dawn fingers a
torn matchbook cover and skegs
of old fishing boats.

message 3390: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Excellent, Leslie! It made perfect sense, and wasn't in any way crumby.

M, the imagery in this is gorgeous! Great start to my day. Thank you!

message 3391: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Guy!

message 3392: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments And I would have been happy with just an eyeroll but get the even more desirable plank toss. Oh frabjous day, callooh callay! Thank you!

message 3393: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Alex!

message 3394: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay! It's their fault, I'm just a mere follower :D
Just kidding, they are so great that I sometimes can't resist to follow (it's still their fault lol)

Good morning captain :)

message 3395: by [deleted user] (new)

It is, very much :) You are all nice and amazing, it's an inspiration. I'm glad to be on board and I hope not to be thrown off :D

message 3396: by [deleted user] (new)

illuminated
by the moon, her eyes shimmer-

message 3397: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Belly, you’ve sharpened that verse to a razor edge!

With her eye liner
she drew the slanting shadows
of a lost evening.

message 3398: by Caitlan (last edited Jun 18, 2013 11:38AM) (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments Her carefully carved
mask starts to slip further off
her self damaged life.

message 3399: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Nice, Kat!

The pale wreck of her
that lay beneath struck the gods
speechless with desire.

message 3400: by [deleted user] (new)

*speechless*

But her teeth will show
no mercy. The gods shiver
at her Cheshire grin.
