M | 11617 comments A beast roared, covered
with white fur. The abwoman-
able snow monster!

message 1552: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments That haiku was so lame, even the snow monster was embarrassed by it.

message 1553: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments RotFL!

The lame Haiku limped
to find femininity
in iniquity.

message 1554: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments First attempt - please be kind (help accepted!)

So long a-slumber
Dreaming of rhymes, from her shroud
The butterfly burst

message 1555: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Very nice, Ryan!

message 1556: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Excellent first attempt! I loved how subtle was the link to the previous.

Okay, now let's see.

The chrysalises,
with eyes closed and rem twitching,
dozed by the dozens.

message 1557: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Thank you all. I know I have a long way to go-reading this thread I have been blown away by the talent, intelligence and wit clearly evident. I hope I'm on the right track...

Eyes moved rapidly,
yet sleep fled without warning.
A new day dawning.

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Excellent! Very well done indeed, Ryan. Thanks Al.

With eyes on the prize
The surprised young butterflies
Slept with other guys.

message 1559: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Thanks Guy-I had a good mentor ;o)

message 1560: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments YW and really, the WSS is the true mentor because, as you mentioned, it is very creative and witty, both of which take intelligence and the wisdom to be open to growth.

And your first Haiku efforts are top notch. I and, I am sure, the rest of the Haikuers are looking forward to your next efforts. (And when you reach the graveyard sequence and the Star Trek ones, we'll know because we'll be able to hear your laughter from across the Pacific and equator. They were so funny!)

Ryan | 5334 comments Though moths are easy
and sometimes breezy, they know
only one madman.

message 1562: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LoL! That is very funny! RotFL!

Blinded by the light
the enlightened moths mistook
the full moon for truth.

Okay, now to get to my 'real' job! I have serious writing I am supposed to be doing! LoL!

message 1563: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Wow! That's brilliant, Guy. Good luck with your day's work and thanks for your help.

message 1564: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments A solitary
note. The lone wolf's howling voice
worships the cold light.

message 1565: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Brilliant! Loved that, Ryan. (Still getting my fix in the WSS!) Okay, now to blog.

message 1566: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Thank you, Al. I think you're just being kind, but I appreciate it all the same. How is your writing going?

message 1567: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments It is, indeed!

message 1568: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Your moths turned into monks, Guy! :)

message 1569: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments A skunk stood among
the monkshood smelling sweetly,
not as a skunk would.

message 1570: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments A skunk by any
other name would smell a rat.
Try roses instead.

message 1571: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Wonderful haiku Guy, M and Ryan! These have made my day!

message 1572: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments The rose that froze is
one that grows (grew, I suppose)
where it never snows.

message 1573: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Harsh desert sun, dark
side of the moon. All alone
the red rose still blooms.

message 1574: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Walking in shadows,
she alone mourns summer’s last
rose petals and thorns.

message 1575: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Ryan wrote: "Your moths turned into monks, Guy! :)"

LoL! They did indeed. Without the context of the Haiku game, moths would be meaningless. Of course, being from the Haiku game, we can muse about how blind obeisance to religious ideology can turn monks into moths!

HC! These are EXCELLENT, Ryan and M! Truly delightful. My day has begun with a huge smile on my face! And now it is time to make breakfast and bake chocolate chip cookies.

message 1576: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Guy!

Ryan, your haiku are excellent! You know how to bring images alive.

message 1577: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Thank you Ajay, M and Guy. While I think I am struggling to keep my head above water in such clever company, I am certainly having fun trying. I can't believe I've never had anything to do with Haiku before - it is such a beautiful form.

M, the way you weave words is truly amazing.

message 1578: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Fair Galadriel,
weeps in her bower, farewells
summer's last hour.

message 1579: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Rogers (tamrogers) | 12 comments Been trying to write a haiku a day to help getting some rhythm and routine into my writing patterns... been posting them on my twitter page (@tamrogers) but think this one seems the most apt for me at the moment...

Blank screen awaits as
fingers hover, hesitant.
Now Type. Control-Z.

message 1580: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Like an argument
waged over crackling phone lines,
words came haltingly.

message 1581: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Few muted words,
a foliage of
bubbles yet to sprout.

message 1582: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Your words, unmuted,
are a challenge. Clio's song
in New Roman Times.

message 1583: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments While that is just a big, fat lie...it is a sweet one, once again :) Thanks, Al - high praise coming from your clever little self.

Great to see your strong imagery transfers so nicely to Haiku, Ajay.

message 1584: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Sorry, Tam - I meant to comment earlier - but very nice to read.

message 1585: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Excellent, Ryan. You're really in your element when you're writing poetry, esp haiku! You're a natural at this form. And thank you, I'm a bit hesitant at this form. Still not confident.

Alex! I strongly disagree with your statement. Your haiku is expressive, spontaneous and beautiful. Well, it's been well documented in all the previous trails of this thread. So I needn't say more! Along with M and Guy, you've scripted some of the best episodes ever.

message 1586: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Oops! I just read my last comment to you, Al, and realized it is quite ambiguous! I didn't mean to infer you we're lying about Ajay's Haiku being wonderful! LOL

I only meant it was a lie to imply that your poems are trash. I've been reading this thread from the very start and have to agree with Ajay - in this form, as in everything else I've read by you, you have bucket-loads of talent and natural ability.

message 1587: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Poor Ajay!

message 1588: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Poor Ajay ;o)

message 1589: by Ajay (last edited Nov 19, 2012 06:32PM) (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Hahahaha :)

ambiguous Ryan and volatile
Alex are all play,
making Ajay a poor boy.

message 1590: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Excellent Haiku and delightful banter! Both expressive, natural and alive! LoL.
Tam, nice to see new blood. Keep up the Haiku, it stretches the poet in each of us.

Ambiguity
In Ajay's po' boy becomes
Haiku o' Ryan.

message 1591: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments From ambiguous
beginnings, Guy deftly weaves
a gossamer thread.

message 1592: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments HC, Ryan, you are hitting home runs! That is so funny and delightful at the same time. Very, very hard to follow. Okay, let's see.

The deft bi-polar
weaver found sewing Haiku
a riotous play.

message 1593: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments "I love this creature."
said student to teacher. "My
world is now brighter."

message 1594: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments My math tutor was
young, imprudent, and I her
adoring student.

message 1595: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Rogers (tamrogers) | 12 comments Lovely haiku everybody, I could spend hours reading these!

message 1596: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Tam!

message 1597: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments They joked, at cocktails,
over hors d’oeuvres, how quickly
I was learning curves.

message 1598: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Hers, the leaves on the
mossy gable, the stone path,
the sagging stable.

message 1599: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Fabulous way to start my day, Ryan and M. Thank you. Now, off to work I go.

message 1600: by Ajay (new)

Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments Wonderful haiku Guy, Ryan and M!

Her eyes twinkle,
a sparkling pond,
dancing gold fish.

Her lips wet,
a clasped bond,
alluring petals blush.
