Haiku
The deli’s mumbomoss pies and the pharmacy’s
olive shape fuser
grew dim with Liv’s dish-
water eyes and salesmen who
used to amuse her.
“Why buy some bluerannual algae?” Marva
mused, leaving the house.
Their number was long
out of service. She speed-dialed
go-go nipper mouse.

The Morning SunriseBy Brett A Starr on June 19th, 2021
The morning sunrise
Shines brightly on God’s green Earth
Starting a new day.
Sunday night Darlenewas on call. Noise had died down
from the lakeside gig.
Sleep came. A night light
glowed in the hall. Then, smirking,
Granny honked the pig.

Lyin’ EyesBy Brett A. Starr on June 22, 2021
The Truth Shall Prevail
It’s hard to remember lies,
Noticed in the eyes.
The Eyes of RHis blue eyes said much
Whether with coldness at those
ones, or serene love
He was with people
Loving, peaceful, kind: so much
yet ones didn't care.
We squandered our livesnot in seasons at a time
but in a long chain
of unassuming
moments that rarely wakened
us to their presence.

One day I woke toTheological mined minds,
Insentient science.
I walk in the park
With wonder at the humans
Asleep around me.
