Haiku
Evenings soon were strownwith leaves gusts skidded down walks
and spilled over eaves.
An empty canvas,the path ahead. Behind, snow
conceals our passing.
They stopped, hearts racing,palms sweaty. Behind a bush
there lurked a yeti.
Ryan, you and Alex are wonderful! This is the most fun I’ve had in a writing group in a long time. CJ and Courtney and Garrison have my undying gratitude for keeping the pirate ship afloat.
When turbulent seasrocked the boat, three pirates stood
tall, kept her afloat
I secondly agree about Garrison! Definitely has been consistent with keeping this group alive!Edit: I mean Courtney as well who's doing great at keeping the contests going!
While you look tasty,(said the yeti), nothing beats
a good spaghetti.

He sped his hulking,hairy self to Fifth and Vine,
to the Pasta Elf.
Since going keto,he won’t touch elf, unless it’s
elf from the top shelf
A platinum blondebrought his plate. Gorgeous, she smiled:
“Top shelf comes with Cate.”
I ate a Kate, (hisspelling was crummy) cooked rare,
now she was yummy!
He was a yeti,a snow cruncher, once fearsome,
now a rug muncher.
The hunger! One thing
could stanch it: wine and a plate
of steaming Blanchett.
LOL! RotFL! So good.Blanched Blanchet with wine
blanc started the feast, Penne
pesto funghi was next.
He’s been practicingnot needing anyone else.
Silent, the tree falls.
Topsiders blossomedSperrily from ancient boughs
of the deck-shoe tree.
Snowflakes dropped, twinklingAs cardinals sat on posts
Searching for a meal.
Dawn brought their drifting,crystalline form. Trees recalled
the night’s howling storm.
memories of treesfloat on a breeze, whispering
leaves tumble at dawn
A sky of antiquestationery glowed beyond
the snow-clad dairy.
Cinnamon sugarscents fill the room, as we search
for tasty treasures.
Hot hot finger tipsAnd sweet heat for my pursed lips,
Two cookies in hand.

Sometimes dark, others light. Without makeup, even
poor Milfred took flight
into the unknown

Gold. Pirates' passionLay deep, undisturbed; sea nymphs
Protecting their own.
The sea nymphs guarded,early and late, rotting chests
of pieces of eight.

Among the ship’s ribsand ballast stones lay scuba
gear and mossy bones.
Never again will ye see land - carved on a chest
by some ghostly hand.
A seaweed foresthides ornate rails in shadows
cast by passing whales.
Silly sharks savorsand, seashells, spinach and screws;
scorning scrumptious scrod.
Wow, Anne! Except for the conjunction, every words starts with an s.“Sharks who boast a sleek,
trim bod,” they thought, “have cut down
on haddock and cod.”

pilfering poppies.
The sea nymphs’ long-tinedcombs are pearled, the sparkling spoils
of a dreamlike world.
Nestled in coralangelfish weave to and fro
safe in their haven.

with an aqualung.

Sun shafts pierce the weedthat festoons iron-bound chests,
a trove of doubloons.
The lost loons driftedbeneath the patchwork sunlight,
