M | 11617 comments In Old Monterrey
lived a fruit who smoked seaweed
and wore a striped suit.

The fruit wonders if
smoking seaweed would advance
him to Rotten State.

message 5553: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments Bittersweet salt smoke
Hung overripe in his lungs
Staining suit and soul

message 5554: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments His sole suit: to halt
the industry of smoked souls,
perdition munchies.

A real krill, he changed
to a hemp Baja jacket
that impugned old suits.

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments The thrill of the krill
Was to be consumed until
The whales had their fill.

[Sorry about that one! ]

message 5557: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments With licence to krill
James Pond shot Octopussy
through his golden eye.

HaHa!

message 5560: by [deleted user] (new)

If looks could krill
then I would be dressed to Krill
in Antarctica-

message 5561: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments My two frozen feet
Find Antarctica most bleak
Krill slippers lack warmth

message 5562: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Apron askew, eye
on the till, she belched and threw
more krill on the grill.

message 5563: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments The fish are remiss
To see their peers made a dish
They shout, "Stick with kale!"

(Say "the fish are remiss" 10 times fast.)

message 5564: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments (I started to say it ten times fast, and messed up on the first one!)

message 5565: by [deleted user] (new)

Brutes at a table
singing hymns over fishes
and fiddlehead sides

fiddleheads: frond of some ferns eaten as a vegetable.

message 5566: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LoL!
Very funny everyone!

message 5567: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments We sipped local mead
and all took turns throwing darts
and nibbling on ferns.

message 5568: by [deleted user] (new)

Multifarious throws -
My dart had a lax hang time
configuration

Eat and be merry
Ignore the bubonic plague
From tavern to grave.

message 5570: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments Placebo effects
Tend to be heightened by drink
Invincible lush

message 5571: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments She didn’t like her
tales ironic, her tea strong,
her plagues bubonic.

message 5572: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments She took exception
To the plague dripped in her tea
It was much too bold

message 5573: by [deleted user] (new)

Darjeeling in China
a bone teacup with a bend
that made him miss her.

message 5574: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments What's her cup of tea
Was not the tea in her cup
But the sigh of wind
Moving through the lone pine tree,
Across the empty teacup.

message 5575: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments The curve of her hip
Echoes in the fine china
Cherry blossoms dance

message 5576: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments The blossoms that fell
Fell with a natural ease
Into Death's fell grace.

message 5577: by Ryan (last edited Mar 08, 2014 05:47AM) (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments On supple leather
she blossomed late, in the back
of a Chev V8.

message 5578: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 08, 2014 08:33AM) (new)

Faint hints of leather
encumber the wine with cares
that enfold me still.

message 5579: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Her last encounter
With leather left her feeling
Under his tether.

[Sorry. I couldn't stop myself. ]

message 5580: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments He found her lashes
To be gentle and yet his
Will was bound, helpless.

message 5581: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments On wind-whipped breakers
homeward bound; empty vessels,
helpless, run aground.

message 5582: by Nicky (new)

Nicky (soundgirl) | 1388 comments With steel cold grip the
Icey current drags lost souls
Beneath dark, frigid waves.

(The thing about being dyslexic is that the spell check doesn't tell you the difference between 'currant' & 'current' could have been a tricky moment, glad I double checked now!!)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments The river Styx flows
Between Lethe and Mnemosyne
Bearing towards Hell.

and son to Cronos, a titan
the Underworld God

message 5585: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments Stolen, spring-new bride.
Persephone, torn from her
Garden of roses.

Young queen of the dead
Tastes no sweetness in these few
Pomegranate seeds.

message 5586: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Far and wide, I searched
the planet for words that rhyme
with pomegranate.

message 5587: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments Dammit Janet, is
There a planet where your brain
Is more than granite?

message 5588: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I must inform you
that there is not, solemnly
stated Dr. Scott.

message 5589: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Haha ;)

message 5590: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Frank stepped right, feeling
cocky, much to the horror
of poor old Rocky.

message 5591: by [deleted user] (new)

Reticent Rocky
rescue your fight on Queer Street
with a Sunday Punch.

Queer StreetWhen a boxer is dazed from getting hit hard on the head or has taken too many punches to the head he is said to be on Queer Street or taking a walk on Queer Street.

message 5592: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments (Cat, you know a lot of esoteric, interesting things!)

message 5593: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, I just used ringsidebygus.com (boxing terms) :) I wish it were all intuitive. Maybe it is on some plane. :)

I will 'take a dive'
by finding a word inside
my dictionary.

Take a DiveTo throw a fight. To intentionally pretend to get knocked out by a light punch, thus intentionally losing the fight.

Wow. I am richly inspired.

message 5598: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments A fiery gout of
Billingsgate roared forth from her
Thin embittered lips.

Taking a page from your book (via my word of the day app versus a dictionary)!

Billingsgate: coarsely abusive language

message 5599: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments I have to second Cat, Rachel - your writing is stunning and so vibrant.

message 5600: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments *blush* I gotta say, you guys are a fount of inspiration and an excellent brainstorming resource. I've probably written more here in the last week than I've contributed to my book in the last month. @.@
