Ryan | 5334 comments To the dark tower
Childe Roland came, seeking time's
source and it's meaning.

message 5153: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Roland found, in the
dark and damp, a limiter,
keyboard, and an amp.

and an elfin memory

Ryan | 5334 comments By a babbling brook,
my musings laid bare a path
to Rivendell's arms.

Cuckoo Roadrunner
runs faster than my tabby
The wind beats us all.

message 5160: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Blake | 1231 comments The wind can blow in
trouble, that doesn't easily
blow back out again.

M | 11617 comments The banker’s poodle
made a smelly deposit
on the lobby floor.

on a January day
White pepper accents.

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments the smelly old socks
were not so rank as the soup
the dog left behind

message 5166: by Edward (last edited Jan 08, 2014 10:34AM) (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments For my first haiku
I shall attempt to relate
A story for you

Of a man who ate
Things you would never dare eat
No matter your fate

He shuffles his feet
And moans and groans wordlessly
He finds killing neat

He won't let you be
For his food is truly you
Such is a zombie

You may just say boo
For I lied about the tale
Yet such is haiku

That for now I fail
Until my skills more refined
I've just now set sail

Upon this strange bind
Of words and verses unique
Now a trying grind

Well ... that was exhausting. I'm not sure if I should apologize for that yet.

message 5167: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Fantastic, Edward! Long overdue :)

message 5168: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Zombie haiku, and deftly rendered in haikuza rima! This is excellent, Edward. What a great way to start a morning!

message 5169: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Blake | 1231 comments Great job Edward

message 5170: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments That was great fun to read, Edward! Nicely done and not only a great start to a morning, but a fantastic contribution to our thread of corrupt 5-7-5.

message 5171: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Rosler (ronnydazzler) | 92 comments "When you sneeze, you laugh."
We ate fireflies for warmth
On those country drives.

message 5172: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments He dined on fireflies
merrily and his poop glowed
like a Christmas tree.

message 5173: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Rosler (ronnydazzler) | 92 comments Haha!

message 5174: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Oh, thanks y'all. That was a bit of an exercise to give my mind a break from the monotony. I got the rhyming scheme from Dante's Divine Comedy: ABA BCB CDC ... I found myself reading the original Italian without understanding a word of it.

Heh, eating fireflies.

message 5175: by M (last edited Jan 08, 2014 12:43PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments I had intended to follow #6562 (which is very nicely written!) with something inspired and artistic, but my muse apparently thought it would be funny if instead I careened off the road into a ditch.

message 5176: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Rosler (ronnydazzler) | 92 comments A funny ditch indeed.

message 5177: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments I love the image you have painted in #6562, Daniel. There is a whole story lying just under the surface. Beautiful writing!

message 5178: by Ryan (last edited Jan 08, 2014 12:53PM) (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Fireflies in the night,
blue and red crash site flashes,
watch cars trickle past.

message 5179: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Rosler (ronnydazzler) | 92 comments Thanks, Ryan! I love the visual you painted. My favorite part of Haikus

Daniel Rosler (ronnydazzler) | 92 comments As I grabbed your hand
("Do I still make you feel home?")
In the rental car.

message 5181: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments It was her feeling,
Of groping hands and warm breath,
That home was not here.

message 5182: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Blake | 1231 comments Can't go home again.
Not after all that you've done.
Bridges burned forever.

message 5183: by Ryan (last edited Jan 09, 2014 12:41PM) (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Her haven tainted
past recall, she turns for home
with a wrecking ball.

message 5184: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Blake | 1231 comments If you can twerk it,

Hour glass of winds
The extinction of animals
and I must love man?

message 5195: by [deleted user] (new)

The extinction of animals.
Sand is in my eyes.

Never getting anywhere.

message 5198: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Blake | 1231 comments Hamster on a wheel,
ball of fur on spinning steel,
I know how you feel.

message 5199: by Angie (new)

Angie Pangan | 4795 comments I'm kind of lazy.
Maybe if I had a wheel
I would go and run.

message 5200: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Blake | 1231 comments Running, good when it's
exercise, but bad when it's
away from problems.
