The idea came about when I went in to her preschool to read a book about Down syndrome to her class. The children were so engaged, curious and interested. It touched my heart so much to see how receptive and accepting the children were to differences. I went away with that feeling of hope and that's how the story came about. A story centred around a girl who was a little different but really just the same as everyone else. A story about achievements, fun and celebration. A story where children who were different could identify with and relate. I wanted it to resonate with all children and normalise the fact that we are all different and that it is okay.(less)
