Brandi Wow, those covers don't even look like they're part of the same series.

Rashika (is tired) It's the love triangle that's stopping me from reading this. It'll be all I can focus on :(
I am glad you enjoyed this though.
Great review :)

message 3: by Emily May (new)

Emily May @Brandi The stories inside almost make you think that they're not too ^-^ You should read these, you know. I think you'd even like the first one more than me and the second is soooo much better!

@Rashika Honestly, there is NO love triangle in this sequel! I can't believe it but, trust me, you'll see what I mean - I was so happy!

message 4: by Jay (new)

Jay Awesome review

message 5: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thanks Jay!

@Skyla Oh I know, but I think the first cover is more fitting to the story in Throne of Glass. I found Celaena to be so much more badass in this sequel!

message 6: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Yeah, LOL. All I could think about during TofG was how tame it seemed for a book about an assassin. But now I'm really excited for the rest of the series :)

message 7: by Shelly (new)

Shelly Awesome review! I've just finished it & agree 100%! I'm blown away by how good this was! :D

message 8: by Julie (new)

Julie Yay. I'm still currently reading it because I'm reading three other books as well at the same time but glad you enjoyed it. Can't wait until your reviews for the prequels. :) It's hard for me to read about Sam but I'm enjoying that she's writing more about him in this one.

message 9: by Emily May (new)

Emily May @Shelly Thank you! :)

@Julie I definitely will have to now! I want to know more about this world :)

message 10: by Stuti (new)

Stuti Rai Oh wow wow wow! I murst gert mer hands on these books. You make them sound like awesomeness bookified.

message 11: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I think I need to give this a shot too. ^_^

message 12: by Tandie (new)

Tandie Oh, happy happy review!

message 13: by Emily May (new)

Emily May So much happiness! :D

message 14: by Maria (new)

Maria Throne of Glass has little to offer in the fantasy theme IMO, but this, THIS! Wow. :)

s.penkevich [hiatus-will return-miss you all] Great stuff. And more cool points for Adventure Time, I recently been instructed that I had to watch it and so far I think it was great advice ha.

message 16: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thank you! And what can I say? I'm just a cool person :D

message 18: by Tandie (new)

Tandie Now I've got to get motivated to read book one. My daughter told me it starts out really slow & gets good at the end. I need immediate gratification!

message 19: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Hmm, it depends what you mean by "slow". The action scenes are mostly at the end but I didn't think the rest dragged. It was entertaining, just less gritty than I'd hoped.

message 20: by 紫淇 (new)

紫淇 I wasn't really sure about reading this book because I didn't particularly enjoy the first, but great review Emily :)

message 21: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thanks Pearl!

message 22: by Jessie Leigh (last edited Sep 04, 2013 06:58PM) (new)

Jessie Leigh I couldn't believe how much of an improvement this was. I almost gave up after the mess of the first, but you nailed it -- Maas totally figured out how to write a real story here.

Lovely review.

message 23: by Blair (new)

Blair Looking forward to reading this series soon. Thanks for the review.

message 24: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thank you! I agree, Maas really upped her game with this - I only hope the rest of the series is as good! ^-^

message 25: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Skyla (Skoyklha) Happy Go Lucky and Lost in Books wrote: "I think it might also be partially because Maas was like 17 when she started writing these books so it was her maturing as a person and a writer."

Makes sense. Her writing/storytelling does seem to have matured a lot from one book to the other.

message 26: by Robert (new)

Robert Tell us how you really feel, Emily. Great review.

message 27: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Hi Emily. I saw your 4 stars but didn't read the review until I finished it. Had to come back to see what you thought. I just finished CoM and absolutely loved it! I think you nailed it with your review. Maas blew the door wide open and it feels like a proper fantasy.

message 28: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thanks Brandi! I agree completely. When I read the first book, I couldn't see myself sticking around for 6 or 7 books (however many there will be) but Maas has created something really special in her sequel. I can't wait for more! :)

message 29: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I enjoyed this one so much more because Celaena was actually badass here! Fabulous review, Em.

message 30: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thanks! I agree, loved Celaena so much more in this one :)

message 31: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (APCB Reviews) Oh I love your review and rating of this!! Before I read a book I always look at your rating. When I rate a book I say "How would Emily May rate this? How would she analyze this book?" I'm glad you enjoyed this like I did!

message 32: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Woah, thanks Rachel :) I'm glad you enjoyed it too!

message 33: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ The first book fell pretty flat for me, but your review makes me more willing to try the second one. I've heard from a few other people that it's better, and I'm glad to hear that there's more badassery in this one because the lack of action was partly what bothered me about the first one. Hmmm. Well, if I do read it I'll let you know what I think! :)

message 34: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Oh yeah, I thought this one was SO MUCH better. I'll look out for your review if you do decide to give it a try :)

message 35: by Beth (new)

Beth Love the review! I wasn't going to read Throne of Glass because of all the negative reviews, but this book sounds pretty awesome! I guess I'll have to give this series a chance. Thanks!

message 36: by Emily May (last edited Feb 04, 2014 10:18AM) (new)

Emily May Thank you! If you think the first one is just okay, I really recommend you try out the second - it's so much better :)

message 37: by Julie (new)

Julie The prequel novella's have been put together into a physical copy now and they are as badass as Crown of Midnight (in my opinion) which I think I've already said before but oh well. Personally I think she should have released The Assassin's Blade as the first book.

message 38: by Marte (new)

Marte Can I use this gif on one of my "reviews" please? I love it :)

message 39: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Of course ^_^

message 40: by Cat (new)

Cat My problem now, is what to read next, this was just WOW!

message 41: by Emily May (new)

Emily May I know! It's always so hard to follow a really good book.

message 42: by a (new)

a k Your review convinced me to read Crown of Midnight, and WOW, I'm so glad I did. Thanks! :)

message 43: by Emily May (new)

Emily May No problem! So glad you liked it :)

message 44: by Jess (new)

Jess I am very 'so so' about reading this, but your reviews are usually on the money... will give it a shot...!

message 45: by Emily May (new)

Emily May I hope you like it, Jessica!

message 46: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thank you, Justin! ^_^

message 47: by Sonia (new)

Sonia COMPLETELY agree with your review. Throne of Glass was good. Not great. Crown of Midnight was on a different level.

message 48: by Emily May (new)

Emily May Thanks, Sonia :) It's amazing how much Maas upped her game with this one. I just hope the third book is as impressive!

message 49: by C (new)

C Omg girl now I really wanna read this book! Like literally NOW! You just made me so exited for it!!!!

message 50: by Emily May (new)
