Thank You Scarlet. Is that so ? So I've read his finest work till date ? I actually ordered the other 2 books and they should have arrived but due to some problem it hasn't. I really hope I get them soon :)
I have this theory that the first Hosseini book you read commands a special place in your heart, simply because the emotional impact it has is so new and unparalleled. A Thousand Splendid Suns is also stunning and had I read it before The Kite Runner, I would have definitely given it 5*. I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on his other books :)
I CANNOT EVEN.
THAT WAS ... INCREDIBLE.

Aww..Thank You so much !!
And I'm so overwhelmed with a gazillion emotions right now that I'd let you take the credit :P
Great review Basuhi....:D
And *same pinch* for the feelings, girl! Your review just reminds me of everything I felt at that time. But I cried a lot. I mean really a lot!!
A thousand splendid suns now!! I planning to read it soon.
Tough question. A Thousand Splendid Suns is very difficult to read and some scenes are horrifying but it's a powerful story. It's my second Hosseini favorite but reading it right after The Kite Runner...you'll be devastated. And the Mountains Echoed is more like a collection of short stories that are all connected but it's no match to his other books. Still, it's well-written and doesn't break your heart so much so maybe you should read that first? You decide.

Thank You Joyeeta !
I know, I would've cried if it had been some spontaneous combustion of grief or something like that but when te whole book was so sad it was tormenting. I don't think I'd have felt so good and bad even if I had cried.
A Thousand Splendid Suns, you say ? Okay.

Then A thousand Splendid Suns, it is. It's horrifying ? More than the Kite Runner ? I don't want to be heartbroken in the end with no more Hosseini books to look forward to.
All are about Afghanistan, I suppose ?

Thank You. Yeah, it is.
Yeah, Afghanistan is a constant fixture. But And the Mountains Echoed spans many other countries too.
@ Lilli : Thank You ! Yes I highly recommend this. It's a beautiful book.
@ Scarlet : Ah Okay. I'm looking forward to them.
@ Nab : Thanks. IKR ? Bittersweet. I like the sound of it, I wonder why I'd don't use it in my review, it's perfect :)
You know Scarlet's right! It's time to read something cheerful! Why don't you read And the mountains echoed or maybe any other YA novel then come back to A Thousand Splendid Suns.
And the fact that all the stories are based on Afghanistan is the reason why I love his stories. You can easily relate to them. :)
@ Carrie : Thanks.
@Joyeeta: I'm not reading the other books right away...I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. Apparently for some moronic reason, Flipkart says that it's not able to find my address, even though it home delivers every month.
After the book arrives I'll decide which one to read :)
This book killed me inside. It was disturbing and horrible, with some real beauty mixed in too. Fantastic, heartfelt review, Basuhi.
@ Varsha : Thank You. You must read it.
@ Noora : Disturbing, horrifying and sometimes just very wry and raw and sad but in the end, it was beautiful. Thank You :)
"Before I started this book, I distinctively remember running my hands over the cover, over the embossed letters that read, The Kite Runner, with not a thought spared but just a sense of hope and anticipation." - WOW! Right there you once again illustrate just what an amazing writer you are, Basuhi! I love how your review was dedicated to how the book made you feel. Beautiful review, my friend! :)
I'm never sure if I should read this. Most people say that the main character was selfish and a horrible. But I'm glad you liked it and wonderful review Basuhi. :D
@ David : Thanks a lot. :D This book and the feels...just I had to.
@ Aisha : Thanks Aisha !
@ Merna : I wouldn't say that he was any more selfish than what we normal humans are. He isn't a heroic figure for most of the book, he is a natural person with emotions that you can very well imagine yourself feeling if you were in that situation. I think you should give it a try, Merna and thank you.
Beautiful review, Basuhi. As always. :)
This review already tugged at my heartstrings, so what more if it was already the book I was reading, right?
@ Marla : I swear Marla that this isn't even half of what I felt. As I said I'm not articulate enough. But READ IT and you'll be speechless. Thanks a lot :)

I bought a copy of this book awhile ago and I swear I'll read this soon. :) I just really think that this is the kind of book that you really dedicate your time on.
@ Marla : You're right about that...you need to time to comprehend the enormity of it all. But I didn't have the leisure to do that :(
When I saw your name, I had to see your beautiful review of this book. Let's just say, I'm punching myself for not buying this book when I saw it in the book store the other day.
@ Kristina : Thanks.
@ Summer : Oh, Thanks a LOT, Summer. Yes, Go BUY IT NOW. This book is beautiful. So...beautiful :)
I love it! I finished it right away. I coudnt put it down even when I was at work lol thats how good it is! I would read it all over again but it breaks my heart to pieces.
@ Sam : Ah thanks. I agree this book is sheer perfection.
@ Louise : Thanks. You should read it :)
@ Mz.Vangie : Glad you loved it. This is a compelling read, I know.
Wonderful review!! It's weird that I came to this book after reading another great, utterly moving novel that was being sold as "the African Kite Runner," Chigoze Obioma's "The Fishermen." Although both are radically different, I see why, and I'm so glad I read both books. High;y recommended that you do too!!

damn this review is amazing, a description like "this beauty and beast of a book" is exactly how to recommend a book to me :)

None of Hosseini's other books have managed to touch me so much but they're all very, very good. Do read them someday, Basuhi.
