I am an English major and had to read it for school and this is the only thing I remember about the book

I agree with the second part of this, there were definitely some, not so subtle, homoerotic feelings going on
some people in class brought that up

I recommend Self-Made Boys: A Great Gatsby Remix where they are just gay! Better than the original by FAR

i tried telling my friend this (we just finished reading it for school) and she just looked at me funny
I've heard that theory but I never got that impression while reading it. What evidence in the text points to this?

100% agreed. There is NO straight explanation for the way he describes Gatsby at the beginning, as much as he denies even liking the dude... LOL
Knowing he had descriptions of how bulky Tom was, you might be right.
Nah he's 100% bisexual. He sleeps with a man, describes Gatsby like a guy who has a thing for him, but he also courted Jordan Baker, had a thing with a girl before her brother gave him dirty looks, and imagined being part of different girls' lives.
Even if he's that's not the plot. It's sad that now readers focus on unnecessary things. like this book so much more than that. But I can't blame you but I still can. Like seriously?
