lol cool i'm reading it right now in my 9th grade english class
I should give this a try! I had to read an abridged version of it 4 times in undergrad plus write papers on it so I got a bit Illiaded out lol but this translation sounds amazing!
ahhh yeah. i think if youre forced to study and analyse anything, it kind of takes the joy out of it. but reading this for pure entertainment is a completely different experience. so i would recommend it! :P
Wonderful review Jessica! I’ve been meaning to read this book for a while and plan to read it later on this year. It’s one of three classics I actually planned on lol.
rachel - thank you so much!! its one of my all time favourite classics, so im elated to hear that its on your list!! :)
el - yesss! i support that decision 100%! hehe.
ahhhh im so jealous!! i cant even imagine how awesome it would be to read this story in ancient greek! so cool!!
Fagles translation - I'm going to read this later in the year. Thx for the heads up! I'll look for Fagles :)
I re-read the Odyssey with my fellow faculty members last summer and immediately added this to my 2019 summer reading list!
well, that is quite the coincidence because im planning on rereading the odyssey later this year! so i guess its going to be a homer-filled summer for us! :P
im in the same situation with 'the odyssey' - read it for school and didnt really get it. but i bought the same translators copy when i got 'the iliad,' so im hoping to reread it soon!!
Omg, I need to get to this, too. I have the same translation. Glad to hear you thought so highly of it.
zitong - yesss! do it!! :P
elizabeth - thank you so much!! i hope you get a chance to read it soon and enjoy it as much as i did! :)
