It looks like Ethan has body paint/tattoos? Kinda racy for YA, don't you think? Not that I'm complaining."
I don't know, but I LOVE it. And I'm definitely not complaining about the low jeans, either... *drools*
I love it too! Especially the darker colour scheme! I read the teaser at the back of The Immortal Rules and it looks like Ethan's kind of a brooding bad boy LOL

Brooding bad boy? Yummy... (Sorry, how shallow do I sound?)
I was disappointed with this one as well. It totally felt like a rehash of The Iron King and was terribly anti-climactic. I remember not liking that so much of the beginning was about Ethan's troubles in school-- I feel like every school-related scene that Julie writes in this book and the previous ones have been completely stereotypical and predictable. :/

I'm just hoping it gets better, like the original series did, and I'll fall in love with these books like I did the others.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
The thing that frustrated me most was the story structure. It had the same "base code" as The Iron King, so-to-speak. Ethan finds himself in the Nevernever, like his sister, meets a cat, like his sister, visits a court and meets some friendly and some unfriendly relatives, flees, begins to fall in love with someone he [supposedly] shouldn't, yadayada. In the end he faces off against the Big Bad, and "defeats" it. But he's not finished up, because there's some sort of catch. Meghan promised to return to the Seelie Court, and Kieran promised he'd come if the Dark Lady called, bringing us into a second book.
The only good part about the last part of this plot line is that it doesn't break one of the sacred rules of sequels: It wraps up a big issue, and ends off with some sort of "catch" instead of leaving the reader with absolutely nothing resolved.
tl;dr It's a recycled plotline.

I completely agree.
I was actually looking forward to this more than The Immortal Rules.. Now I'm not so sure about either series.

I haven't finished The Immortal Rules. I was hoping it would be good, though. Maybe not?
I'm definitely going to be continuing because, I mean, it's Julie. Also, the three pages of Ash-Puck were so phenomenal, I think they need a ship name.
You'll probably like The Immortal Rules. It seems the general consensus is that it's one of the better YA vampire dystopias. The worldbuilding is excellent. The main problem for me is that I'm not really into vampires at all.
Pash? Ashfellow? I dunno @___@

I have, actually! And you have no idea how much I wish I had $5,000 lying around. There's just so much pretty concept art!!
