Yeah, but it felt so ugly to me. He basically sleeps with her to win a bet and she still takes him back, and I was like, seriously Tessa? Ever heard of self respect??
And I skipped most sex scenes anyway since it was so damn repetitive and frankly, quite boring 😅

God, I envy you!! My bestfriend wouldn't let me stop in the middle:(( She's a Harry Styles "fan" and she treats this book as the Holy Grail 🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀
Good review! Also avoid The Great Alone as there is too much abuse there and I got really sick of it.

I'm, gulp, going to be 57 in April, and I have a hard time stomaching ye ole punishing kisses and forced seduction of old school HP's. I would have thought by now that female readers would be beyond all that crap. I'm not talking alpha behavior (and I exclude the BDSM as well as poor Diana Palmer lol), but cheating and disrespect seem to thrive in some contemporary romances.
With all the Harvey Weinstein crap that went on, all I could think of is why didn't someone knee him in the groin or slap the taste out of him.

Thank you :)
And thanks for the warning. Abusive 'romantic' relationships make me sick too!

That's what I don't understand! How can women not see how abusive and misleading these books are??! This guy sleeps with her to win a bet, for God's sake.
And don't get me started on cheating protagonists. Tessa cheats on her highschool boyfriend and she's still a Mary Sue and Colleen Hoover's Maybe Someday romanticizes cheating and readers fangirl over the jerk. I feel like screaming.
I try to avoid them as they make me feel sick but sometimes its hard as you don't realize when you start out on the book that it is going to be like that. I read one Colleen Hoover and quit on her books as I don't much like her writing anyway. I created a listopia for wife beaters so if you read any of those please add them there so I can avoid them. There are also some other listopia's to help avoid these type of books.

If I ever read it I think it would be hate reading. I don't think I'd have the energy to go through that alone though.
Sajid wrote: "If I ever read it I think it would be hate reading. I don't think I'd have the energy to go through that alone though."
If hate reading is what you have in mind, I have better options. Even for that purpose, this book is absolute garbage 😂
I HOPED I'd somehow vanish the knowledge from my mind that i read this book. No luck. This book is nothing but a manipulative, toxic, abusive and selfish relationship with lots of fights and make up sex. That's all there is. And I HATE that people think it's good enough to get a movie deal. Ugh

Yesss exactly! There are thousands of amazing NA books that would make a better movie, but this is what we get 😣😣
Actually, i didn't read this book. Cause it was look like a crappy thing. kkk I'm happy now because I didn't waste time with this book.

I'm sorta jealous of you. I still haven't managed to shove this crap off my mind 😒
I watched the movie to see what the hype was all about and I didn't want to read the books (thought the pitch was a little to much like fifty shades🤮 ). I have to say.. AMEN to your review!!! What the fuck with people!!!

If I were in your place, that friend would've had a 2-HOUR lecture😒. And like IGAF if i'm called a grandma.........

Okayy lol, good for you
I saw the movie yesterday and it was even worse than I though it would be, I don't understand how people can say that it's good

I haven't watched the movie yet. But some of my friends said it's toned down and not as bad as the book. Looks like I was lied to. AGAIN. 😕😒

I haven't read the book I only watched the movie, I'm never going to read it though. I actually didn't hate Hardin that much I was just really annoyed by Tessa lol. But don't watch the movie, spare yourself from that pain
Yes, read that shit on wattpad too, years ago and continued the series for the same reason. I’m completely disgusted by how books like these even exist and are loved by many.

I'm pretty sure you'd hate Hardin if you read the book. I guess he's the mellowed down part in the books to movie transition 😅
But thanks, now I'll never even think about watching the movie!

That's what I don't understand as well 😐
Like abusive relationships are fine as long as the guy is hot? Many Wattpad writers go with this trope, it's so sickening.
I never actually managed to read the whole book when it was on Wattpad because of all the red flags. Thank you for sharing your review:)
Agreed. I've read it too. Honestly a part cannot believe how such a toxic story became so famous. I gave up after the second book although the whole series is sitting on my shelves collecting dust.

Anytime, Sage. You got lucky btw xD
I regret reading this very much!

I wish I had the good sense to stop it like you. I was pretty stupid to think it would get better 😅

I think the reach was due to 1D's fame at that time. Most of my friends read it only for Harry, even though Anna Todd's version is nothing like my boy :(

Oh- do I understand. And you are honest, no grandma. The popular is currently obnoxious and mostly bilge.
I read it when it was in wattpad too, and i really gave it a try, i read until the second bood but that's when i stopped reading, the toxicity that was their relationship was just too much for me, it was awful always going back and forth, and still stay with each even after everything that he did to her...

That's what I still don't get. Tessa was so stupid for going back again and again. Maybe Anna needs some lessons on how healthy relationships work lol 🤦
Jeanette wrote: "Oh- do I understand. And you are honest, no grandma. The popular is currently obnoxious and mostly bilge."
So so obnoxious! 🙆
Also, thanks xD
i also read the whole series for some closure but successfully failed. In between reading i have to skip chapter because it was over and over the same thing 😒
