ChopinFC Just finished reading this and it was incredible! The movie was epic but it was really a reflection of how good the novella was written !

Awesome Rod! I'm really enjoying the book even though I know the outcome. I'm surprised by the differences though between the movie and book.
I shouldn't be surprised though with books vs. movies. 😂😂

Terry I read this last year. Great book! Enjoyed all 4 stories. Glad you are enjoying :)

I know what happens in 3 of the stories (which is a bummer) but I'm still enjoying this collection a lot!
I've been a bit surprised with the differences in Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption vs. the movie!

That's the way I was, and still enjoyed them a lot. I think the differences keep it fresh enough, and as usual, I think I like the books better in each case.

I am really enjoying the book more then the movie. Even Andy Dufresne looks different from the book vs. movie! And there's a lot more wardens at the prison, which was a surprise.

Joe I usually hold off liking "Review To Come" updates the same way my employer holds off paying me on Monday for "Work To Come," but as this is my favorite Stephen King book and I'm thrilled you finished it, I cheer your accomplishment, Ginger.

Ha!! I completely understand Joe on holding off the like until it's a proper review. I've got about 2-3 reviews now that I've got to finish up this week. I've barely had time to read so I'll make sure to do a decent review for your favorite King book. :D
I can completely understand why this is your favorite by the way. Absolutely fantastic.

James Joyce King? That hack?

I've never actually disliked one of his books. The guy is an amazing storyteller.

Hahaha! What a hack.

You can really see in this book how great of a storyteller he is.
The 1st three stories in this book would be fantastic on their own and can see why each one was made into a movie.
The last story was still good, but it just didn't compare to the magic of the 1st three stories in my opinion.

Justin I hope to get to this one soon. Gonna load up October with SK short stories and novellas. I feel like he is much better when he keeps things concise, like under 400 pages. Plus, I mean, The Shawshank Redemption is the best movie ever, and The Stand is awesome as well. Great review!

Yeah, I think you would love this one Justin. Each story was fun to read, even the two plots that I knew of were excellent, "Shawshank" and "The Body" aka Stand By Me. I really enjoyed this book!

ChopinFC Great review! I'm glad you're getting into SK. He's phenomenal! Try reading 11-23-63, it's a long read but SK at his finest :)

Thanks Rod! Yeah, it's on the list of reads. Not this year though (haha) but I'm really looking forward to reading that.
My book greed is getting out of hand this month with SK books and I've got to concentrate on The Hero of Ages. How far are you in it?

Jason A fine review, Ginger. I too loved this collection and agree that Breathing Method was the weakest, but largely just based on the fact that it was side-by-side with some of Kings best. I maintain that the novella appears to be King's sweet-spot.
