Can't wait to read it!!!
Glad I found someone else who doesn't care for Looking for Alaska! Found it to be been-there-done-that...
I actually really like John Green as a person so I keep supporting his books and rooting for him.
My Opinions:
Looking for Alaska - Liked.
An Abundance of Katherines - Not So Much
Paper Towns - I actually hated... it reminded too much of a blend if the aforementioned. I hated Margo. I'm sorry... :(
TFioS - Liked.
He isn't a bad writer. I just think he needs to shake up his formula and I REALLY hope he does that in his new release.
Oh god, finally someone who I agree with about his books! I couldn't stand reading An Abundance of Katherines and Looking for Alaska! But then again I also didn't enjoy Will Grayson, Will Grayson the whole plot just irked me I don't even know why it was a genuinely interesting topic but I don't think it was written as well as his books like TFIOS or Paper Towns.
I agree with Katherines being not great. But Alaska?! That was the first book I read of his and my absolute favorite. Everything after that kinda went downhill when I realized they're all great books... about the same thing. What order did you read them in?
In my opinion, there's just nothing original about Alaska. I didn't get into the characters that much. Didn't seem very geniune, like he was just looking for stereotypical characters to fit archetypes.
I completely agree!!

A woman from my country that translated the book (It comes out in few days here) said that it has a Looking for Alaska vibe, it reminds her of that, she didn't say much. He read the first chapter on his youtube channel tho

Yeah I felt exactly the same way. I also found the whole look ooh teenagers smoking, so edgy !! to be super annoying lmao

I love his youtube channel! And not gonna lie, crash course literature got me through many an exam paper. I definitely don't have anything against him personally, his books are just hit and miss for me
I honestly really love Paper Towns and at the time I kinda related to Margo a lot, I don't know how I'd feel about it now. I read them all in like 2013. Though I have seen the movie twice and enjoyed it both times

I'm not sure exactly what order I read them in because it was a while ago, I know it was definitely tfios first and katherine last
I think the order was
TFIOS > Alaska > Paper Towns > WG,WG > Katherine
But yeaaahh there is a lot I didn't like about Alaska. Found the main character annoying, found Alaska unrealistic and manic pixie ish, found the portrayal of teenagers kind of annoying. idk I expected to love it because at that time everyone at school did and it was all over everything but nah I don't like it

I definitely agree with that. It felt formulaic to me

Urggh Alaska. I think he really needs to hit a new kind of plot and structure or I'm not gonna care. I don't plan on buying it but if I see it at the library I might give it a go
