Thank you, Kat! I should probably start putting an "Under Construction" notice on my reviews--I usually sit on them a week or three to let reactions and thoughts percolate. Or possibly ferment.
I don't know if I would recommend this for pre-teens, but it was tame enough for teens and 20's and old fashioned grannies!

You made some very interesting observations about this one, Carol. Appreciated your thoughts. Great review.
Thanks, Mike. I remember being struck by the concept of role-reversal. Mostly I remember it as very young adult.
"One of the most fascinating things about this book is the gender reversal."
I agree, Katsa is an interesting character not only for her emotional issues but because her Grace overturns every femininity stereotype, making her even more ambivalent (as you well put it), thus a great representation of the awkwardness we all feel/live during adolescence.
Thanks for reading my review and sharing, Fran. She does have a lot of that adolescent awkwardness and ambivalence, as you point out.

Hehe... ambivalence was the theme of your review, awkwardness was the theme of mine. I wonder, does that say something about our experiences as teens?
