As a woman whose read this complex and fascinating novel, I can back up your assumptions. It's a great introduction to the psychological phenomenon of 'attraction' and deals with a lot of complex social systems.
It was an interesting read and posed a lot of questions that I found myself unable to fully answer. But that's half the genius of this novel. No-one ever really has all the answers
