I have a copy of The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by the same author though I am yet to start it. I will be interested to read your review of this one.

A NYT review referred to The Gene as sort of a prequel to Emperor of All Maladies. (i.e. description of the gene working correctly before cancer occurs). The Emperor has receive high praise from critics and will be difficult to top.
