Michael Becker While I do agree with some of your comments, I'm not sure his book was intended to be a 5000 year history of Africa like you are stating. I believe you are misinterpreting the point of the book. It is clearly about the conquests of Africa as stated in its title and subtitle: "The Fortunes of Africa: A 5000 Year History of Wealth, Greed, and Endeavor." It is about foreign, non-African peoples (a.k.a. Europeans) and their desires to conquer and obtain the wealth of Africa.

Zain A very great review. You have saved me the trouble of purchasing this book.

Kristy I hope I can get the two books you recommended from the library, they are on the expensive side. On the other hand, it might be worth it to own them in order to refer back, take notes and such.

Kristy I bought the second one you recommended for $10 as an ebook, unfortunately the first is over $100, that’s too pricey for me unfortunately. I’m still pondering it though, maybe I can find it used. I like to know things.

Kristy Sorry I mean the first I was able to get as Kindle. The second will be the challenge.
