I love your reviews. They're critical, thorough, and very enjoyable. I'm getting back into reading star wars novels and reading your reviews really helps decide which ones to skip.
Thank you for your kind words, Zachary!! I'm glad you like them and I'm glad you find them informative :)
Wow, going back to your roots and reading this for a 3rd time? I think I made a conscious decision in not reading this one.
I am basically done with the old stuff and sort of waiting to take a look at some of the new stuff. I knew I probably won't be reading some the books that are not about the people in the movies. I don't need to know about Poe's friend or something.
A friend challenged me for a reread and I accepted! Honestly, the second read could hardly be a reread - I was listening to an abridged audiobook.
For me, I'm the exact opposite of you. I'm not really all that interested in the new stuff. I'd rather catch up on all the old books I missed or reread the ones I loved. Different strokes!
I guess I more curious of the new stuff than anything. I got the Thrawn books for Christmas the past couple of years that I haven't read yet. I was waiting to finish the Legend stuff before starting that. I am just a little bit more interested in non fiction books about events, people and places I guess. Of course it has to be well written.
Oh, I think I got confused. You are reading Star Wars: The Approaching Storm. I read this before and well it was not very good. I hope the hours go by quickly so you can read or listen to something else sooner...
Yes, there are parts that I still find silly - the Separatist storyline, and the healing of the mentally challenged - but I think my review is rather juvenile and needs an overhaul. Also, this is hardly the worst I’ve ever read (am reminded of Anita Blake back in the day), so so far, I’m having a good time and that’s all that matters.
Don't feel too bad about harsh criticism on this one. While there are certainly good parts, they are few and far between, and very minor in the grand scheme of things. I like ADF, but he should've gotten a second opinion on this before release.
