I mean, I think you should read P&P right away! (haha) But if you don't want to right now, why don't you watch a film or mini-series version first? I feel like you can't really appreciate P&P retellings or homages without knowing the original.
I'd read P&P first - or as mentioned above, at least watch the mini-series!

You wont be lost but it would be shame to read that book before P&P as you wont appreciate it as much. It you dont want to read it try getting the audiobook its fun to listen to the Brit accents :)
