Sanne I found the book it was. Somebody in that group Caitlin suggested helped me out. Turns out it was A girl named Disaster by Nancy Farmer. ("Het meer van de duizend stemmen" in Dutch). And no it didn't win, I checked that list a while back too. Good tip though otherwise :D
