Capn Will also accept picture books! (I quite like Margaret's Unicorn, which I might have to default to, but anything girlier would be safer)

Capn And I worry that Brambly Hedge and its ilk is too... old-fashioned.

Lyra Also, since you mentioned Cicely Mary-Marker, the lil one might enjoy Elsa Beskow's books. The artstyle is pretty similar.

Capn Thanks, Lyra. Yep, I have several of Elsa Beskow's books here. :) My taste, definitely, but I think it's too old fashioned for the task.

Capn Settled on Iris & Luna (9780008793760) by Sofia Rhei writing under a pseudonym. Apparently Farshore (HarperCollins, bah) bid for and won the English rights to it. Hoping it's okay, and hoping it's better than loathsome Unicornia. :)
