I agree with Leslie Ann and Dini. I have read Chernow (Washington), Goodwin (Lincoln as well as her book on Teddy Roosevelt and Taft), Meacham (Jefferson) and McCullough (John Adams), all very good reading (five stars from me). I just picked up Farrell's book. Almost forgot, I also liked Lynne Cheney's book: James Madison: A Life Recently Considered.
I am also doing this. I just finished Gerald Ford. For George Washington I read the one by Henry Cabot Lodge. I would suggest if you can find any by Jon Meacham. He is an excellent presidential historian.

- Ron Chernow's _Grant_ (he's also written one on Washington)
- Doris Kearns Goodwin's _Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln_
