By not military oriented, do you mean that the plot should not be primarily about military stuff (like in the Honor Harrington books), or that the female main character's abilities should not be from a military or ex-military background. I can think of some space opera with strong female characters who are former soldiers, mercenaries etc. but where the book doesn't revolve around armies or fleets fighting each other.
Yes not like the honor Harrington books I've read them and am looking for something different thanks
