Doesn't quite fit the time period, but In Cold Blood by Capote is a must-read if he hasn't already! For historical fiction: I didn't personally like See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt, but that may also be of interest. And this one isn't crime, but East of Eden by Steinbeck fits the historical period and is a gorgeous book.
Thank you Rachel! In Cold Blood was my first recommendation too...he said he's read it many years ago. And funny you mentioned See What I Have Done...it's probably my most anticipated book of the year but I didn't realize it was out yet! Maybe we will read it together...but I am definitely getting it, hehe. Thanks again. ❤
I did get an ARC of SWIHD but iirc the pub date was August 1! I was really looking forward to it as well so I was disappointed that it didn't quite work for me :( But most of my GR friends who've read it have loved it, so I hope you both enjoy!!
I'm sorry you didn't like it Rachel! But I think I will. In October I visited her gravesite as well as the infamous house where the murders occurred. Thank you again!
And you, too, Steve! That sounds awesome to me, and caught my boyfriends's interest.
