“Rook.” Alistair grunts, nodding his head towards his friend. Quickly, so fast I barely see it, Rook Van Doren has Easton slammed onto the table. Pens and highlighters rolling onto the floor. Those in the library watching quite as a mouse, afraid one noise will have one of these rabid dogs tearing into them next. Alistair stands to his full height, a looming shadow as he bends to speak to Easton who is fighting against Rook’s hold, his cheek smooshed into the wood. “Say her name again,” Alistair bites, “and I’ll make you swallow your fucking teeth.”
