The chemistry between Quentin and Aisha is amazing! Was it hard to establish their relationship and were there any fictional couples that you were inspired by?

Ambika Vohra Hi Jaely! Thanks oodles for your question. It was definitely a challenge to figure out how to establish their chemistry. I didn't want them to have that instant love connection, and I wanted their attraction to grow with time, but I also wanted to make sure their dynamic didn't remain in a friend box, so it was a bit of a hard balance to strike. Ultimately, I wrote the relationship that at its core is being best friends: being able to be yourself around each other, making each other laugh, being there for each other in tough times. I think there is pressure these days to rush into a relationship or define it as romantic, especially with all the pop songs we listen to all day and the movies we watch that depict romance as the most important part of our lives, but I think lasting romance stems from mutual respect and friendship. Some of my favorite couples to read and watch have been that story. I loved the dynamic between Jess & Nick in New Girl for that reason, as well as Nick & Charlie from Heartstopper, because you can feel the strong friendship that underpins their romantic relationships.
