Why couldn't they "get him"? Ha ha.Oh, you know who might really be good in this? Boyd Holbrook! He's going to be in Stephenie Meyer's The host when it comes out. I forgot what his part is going to be but I think it's substantial (or at least good-sized).

yes I'm disapointed that he didn't get the role, but that won't stop me from going to see the movie either, I love the Mortal Instruments series. I'm sure the other guy will hold his own, He just looks a little to skinny for my tastes :)

At the time Alex was in talks with both TMI and Hunger Games. Idk what happened after that since obviously he did neither.

I can't really, he reminds me of a cat, and Jace doesn't look anything like a cat in my head. I don't think he'll ever be the Jace I imagine in my head, but still, he might be great on the acting terms, and an actor can't fulfill the appearance of every single person's image of Jace.

Who looks like a cat to you? Alex or Jamie? To me, Jamie has an unusual look that I've had to really get used to. Ha ha. He just looks different-you don't see him everyday walking down the street. I'm also a sucker for blonde-haired men. What can I say? I've also heard some whispers about Alex. Some alleged abuse of girlfriends or some stuff. I said "alleged" so idk.

To each his own but I don't think he's that hot, really. JCB seems like a nicer guy, which makes him more attractive in my eyes right now. I haven't heard any abuse allegations against him coming from females he's dated. But I'll just shut up because for all I know, Diane Agron could be lying on him about these allegations. None of it is my business anyway.^^

Jamie. Something about his eyes and the shape of his face makes him seem feline to me. I prefer him to Alex though - Alex just annoys me really.

I haven't truly seen Jamie act so I am not going to judge. But Jace is like the hottest, cockiest, most daring guy and to me that is not Jamie. Just not my type.

But it's all got to do with the acting anyway. If they chose Jamie over Alex, even knowing that most of the female population would have preferred Alex, than maybe Pettyfer couldn't pull off the Jace that Cassandra Clare imagined and Jamie did. Hence, Jamie is cast.

Yes that's true. I just always pictured Alex as Jace. When I first read City of Bones I saw a pic of Alex posing as Jace, when he was still a rising actor and he clicked in my mind ever since. I just hope Jamie can do Jace justice since I haven't seen him act in a major role.

Yeah, I haven't seen Jamie acting in a major role either. I hope he's good, but Clare seemed impressed, so I hope he'll do Jace some justice.

I'm excited to see who is playing Alec. I can't wait til they reveal who it is.

This has nothing to do with Jace, but I felt like sharing it anyways. I found Alec! It's Gabriel Hugoboom. Hope he's a good actor, cause I like my Alec!

And they got the woman that's playing the Queen in the Game of Thrones TV show as Jocelyn. Every time I see her on screen I'm gonna think incest! =S No!

I cannot believe that so many people have voted no! When I found out he was Jace, I thought he was perfect. Have you actually taken a minute to look at his face? Have you seen his cheekbones? WOW is all I can say.
And if you look at the pictures of him on the red carpet and of him goofing around, he looks like Jace.

And a final note, to anyone saying Alex Pettyfer should have been him, I'm sorry, but Hunger Games fans thought he should be Finnick. He auditioned for both roles. He got neither. It's obvious that he just isn't that good. He's too pretty and nicey-nice to be Jace. And obviously not that great an actor considering two not-well-known actors beat him.

He later (in the movie beastly) changes which is kind of what happens to our Jace too! So to me Alex Pettyfer is spot on on looks,
personality and basically it should have been a match made in heaven! But guess not...

Well I don't think Alex has the looks personally. I think he's too baby-faced. And yeah I have seen both those films. Beastly, yeah, I can see where you're coming from.
I loved Jamie in Twilight, Sweeny Todd, Camelot, Anonymous and more and I just think he's so diverse - have you SEEN him in those?

But it was Cassie's call, and Jamie was it, I'm happy that Jamie isn't HUGE like Alex is. It means people go for the movie, not the actor. It was like that will ALL the Alex movies, just crazed teens who want to see Alex. I've followed the books from the start and Jamie is how I pictured Jace. Really, everyone in the cast is how I pictured them, except for the dude playing Valentine...

On viewing the cover of City of Bones, I always imagined Alex Pettyfer to play the part.
Jamie looks too thin/less muscle compared, however the trailer may have changed my views...
Either way I'm too excited for the movie now!

I've seen Jamie act and I honestly can't say I was impressed. He was not bad but he wasn't very good either. Neither is Alex, he's just hot lol. I'll hold out a solid opinion until I see the movie but I have a hard time believing JCB will be a convincing Jace. He looks nothing like him and he doesn't seem very masculine, which Jace is in spades. Also he has to be stubborn, sarcastic, resilient, strong and still be lovable and not annoying. Not convinced he can do that.

When i think of Jave i think of someone beautiful, sexy and has that one look on his face that gives you the shivers. i think alex pettyfer is all of that i just really don't find jamie all that attractive or sexy or anything really.I was really disappointed when i found out jamie was going to be Jace.I have seen a lot of other guys that would have fit the part better then JCB. Why dose it have to be HIM!!!:(

I'm used to seeing him as King Arthur in Camelot (which was an awesome tv-series). It's just weird seeing him as anything else. I think, he isn't suited for the role of Jace. He's too sweet looking. I imagined Jace to be intimidatingly gorgeous. That Alex fellow would have been great but keep in mind his acting skills. I mean "I Am Number 4" and "Beastly" weren't very good films (sorrynotsorry). Jamie is a great actor I loved him in Camelot, Sweeney Todd, etc. Personally, I would have LOVED a new face, a fresh actor, so we could pronounce him as the Jace Wayland.

U guys are soo wrong saying that Jamie isn't a good jace he will do amazing and u guys don't forget actors has feelings and that hurts his feelings what u guys are saying so can't wait to see him doing good and blow all of u haters away

I agree!

I don't think he is a very good Jace, but that doesn't change the fact that he's playing the roll. Of course, it's not fair for me to criticize him since the movie haven't even come up yet, and he is a pretty good actor, but still...I really don't think my opinion will change after all.

However, every time I re-read the books I don't picture him as Jace like some people do, I keep imagining the Jace I create in my mind :)

I don't like the idea of Jamie as Jace they just don't match in how i pictured the in my head. But i will still watch the movie and Love it. The only reason i am slightly disappointed is because my stupid ass read the books before the movie.

I completely agree and thank you for having a level head on this. I am not completely thrilled with the idea of Jamie playing him but i will continue to love Jace anyways. The only thing that would make me mad is if he does a terrible job at being Jace. You see this is the problem with Book fans who read the book first cause when the movie goes to come out we are all so hard on the actors/actresses that play them because we all have our own little person in our head that is who we see playing them. Like i don't even like who they picked to play Simon, He is supposed to be cute under those glasses and sadly i don't see it. I think the casting isn't that great but who cares.

I've adored Jamie since he played Anthony in Sweeney Todd in 2007, and his is the face I saw when I was reading the book. To me, Jamie IS Jace.

He did a good job as Jace. I had expected him to not be. I was okay with him playing the role because I still think Jamie is awesome but not most suited for Jace, but then again, who is? Jace could only be perfect as Jace. But there is no Jace (in real life). Jamie was good enough :)
