Dystopian is like the hunger games, divergent, matched etc. Where a seemingly perfect society (Utopia) isn't exactly all as it seems cause nothing's perfect and thats not human nature

A dystopian story is often set in the future, with a controlling, corrupt, greedy government. A lot of poverty, little freedom. Often post-apocalyptic, and democracy has collapsed. The Hunger Games trilogy, Divergent, Gone series (Michael Grant) and Legend (Marie Lu) are good examples of dystopian fiction =)

I think people should take a break from writing romances (because I know we all do) and take a topic like maybe Thriller and see what you can do with that. I happen to love a good Thriller every once in a while ~_~
Amy wrote: "Umm, forgive my ignorance, but what is dystopian?"A good example of a dystopian novel is Delirium and Pandemonium! Both very good books
Amy wrote: "Umm, forgive my ignorance, but what is dystopian?"The basic definition of a dystopia is a bad world, or a hell world, a place where people are unhappy, a horrible place. Examples are Divergent and The Giver, but these can also be considered utopian (a perfect world).
Dystopians are so cliche now, it would be like writing a Vampire novel in 2010. I love writing and I think we should vote for something different to use our imagination.
