Chris I much prefer my kindle!

Ms BooksAholic I LOVE my Kindle Fire! :-)

message 3: by Annie (new)

Annie Brewer I love my nook color!!!!

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) I love my Kindle Fire and my Kindle 3G.

message 5: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Douglass Much less eye fatigue with e-ink. Reading on the iPad results in burning eyes. Plus: my Nook is much lighter and easy to hold at any angle and in any position, like lying on my back in bed.

message 6: by Scott (new)

Scott Since I got the Fire for Christmas I find myself using my iPad less and less. I have compartmentalized the Fire as a Kindle in my mind and not a general purpose tablet. It's strictly for reading and the occasional Prime video. I rarely use it to check email or anything else. I have done this on purpose so that when I see it I think, "Oh, I should get back to reading that book." The iPad is great, it just offers too many distractions from reading.

message 7: by J. B. (new)

J. B. Pichelski Kindle is great for everyday reading, but when I need to annotate or import one of my own texts on an eReader, my iPad is a lot easier and quicker to use.

message 8: by Sky (new)

Sky I've only ever had an eReader (Sony). I've never had an iPad.

message 9: by Tamela (new)

Tamela I love my Kindle Fire!!

message 10: by C. (last edited Mar 09, 2012 02:23PM) (new)

C. Sheehan Would pay for an e-reader long before I would pay for an ipad.

message 11: by David (new)

David Kerschner This should really be about tablets vs e-ink displays.

message 12: by Richard (new)

Richard Hayes At home I use the Kindle app on my computer. If going to an appointment, mine or my wife's, I use my Kindle. If going on trip or vacation use my IPad. Mainly I use Kindle App on computer to read.

message 13: by Brianna (new)

Brianna I have both a kobo and an iPad. I use my kobo for reading most of the time. I only use my iPad if I start reading something while I am at school.

message 14: by Spencer (new)

Spencer Koch I have a kindle and an ipad. I I'm at home and it is during the day i prefer the kindle. At night, i prefer the ipad because of the backlight. When i'm traveling i prefer the ipad because i can use it to surf the web, play games, etc. It's just more versatile for traveling.

message 15: by Jacinda (new)

Jacinda Less people own iPads and more people own a regular old e-reader...

Ever since I bought my iPad I haven't even touched my Nook or Kindle. I'm planning on giving them away or selling them.

Books are formatted better and easier to read on the iPad.

I don't have problems reading on the screen.

message 16: by Brandon (new)

Brandon I vastly prefer e-readers vs any LCD display regardless of kindle fire, IPad or another tablet. Plus a e-reader does not have the distractions of email notifications or any other notifications interrupting you in the middle of the book except for the occasional low battery if you forget to charge it.

message 17: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I have a Kindle Touch and an iPad 2. I much prefer reading on my kindle, but I also have no problem reading on my iPad (no eye strain or anything like that).

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Sun glare on the tablet leads me back to my kobo every time.

message 19: by John (new)

John Kilgallon I have both Kindle and Nook Color. Most of my book reading is on Kindle, magazines and apps are on the Nook. Someone who shall remain nameless in my family has an iPad. She reads a little, not much. The Kindle I carry in my jacket or hip pocket and read books on it everywhere!

message 20: by Raven (new)

Raven Gracey I prefer my Kindle for reading. The backlit screens are too hard on my eyes. A tablet is nice for reading comics or magazines and surfing the web, but I prefer my e-ink for reading. The eye strain is far far less, and its just like reading a book for me, except that I dont have to shift the device as often like I would a book. This makes it easier to keep my eyes where they need to go so that my dislexia doesnt get in the way. I read so much faster, easier, and generally better since I got my kindle. Reading on a tablet is much easier then reading on a computer, but still not as nice an experience.

message 21: by Beth (new)

Beth For me it is easier with an e-reader for they are light weight but not so thin as I feel i might snap them in two. The I pad feels like I would.

message 22: by Callan (new)

Callan Jones I only own a iPad so I voted iPad.

message 23: by Leah (new)

Leah Hess Windnagle I started reading e-books on my iPad and began to dislike it. The tablet is heavier than most e-readers, and the selection of books isn't that amazing. I received a Kindle Fire for Christmas and now I only use my iPad for fun apps, Netflix, etc.

message 24: by Callan (new)

Callan Jones Jacinda wrote: "Less people own iPads and more people own a regular old e-reader...

Like I agree with your comment. It's not every day you can own an iPad.

message 25: by Ugochi (new)

Ugochi Love my kindle!

message 26: by Lee (new)

Lee I do most of my reading at night in bed, and the nook doesn't work without backlight. So iPad/iPhone all the way for me.

message 27: by Antonio (new)

Antonio Im now leaning more and more towards my iPad because of the the night reading. Plus the ease of getting the books on there, my Sony reader was a nightmare for that.

message 28: by Jess (new)

Jess Schira When I first got it, I loved my Kindle 3G, but lately I've noticed I tend to use the Kindle app on my phone than the actual Kindle.

I still prefer books with paper over electronic books.

message 29: by Charlie (last edited Mar 10, 2012 08:40AM) (new)

Charlie I've read on an ipad and it's not nearly as good as a kindle. They're so much more realistic. Even the kindle app on the ipad isn't as good as the real thing. Though books are still the best because you know they're there, on a kindle, you could accidentally delete one, or someone could steal it and you'll never see it again. Even if the kindle is more compact I prefer real ink and paper.

If someone stole your kindle, you'd still have your books. Kindle books are attached to the account, not the device. If someone stole your physical book, then you'd be out of luck until you bought a new book...not so with ebooks (becuase they could be read on your phone, your tablet, your pc, etc).

If someone stole your kindle, you'd be £80+ out of pocket. If someone stole your physical book, they'd get away with £7 worth of book.

message 32: by Arlene (new)

Arlene I loved my Sony until it froze up on me to-day and I had to finish reading my book on my computer.

message 33: by Esther (new)

Esther I read a lot and I find that reading on an ipad gives me eye strain; I have never experienced that with my Kindle.

message 34: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn I loves my Kobo Vox ! .. I have a great time reading on it!

message 35: by L. (new)

L. Gibbs I use my Sony for reading (though it will check email, play music, store pictures and go on the internet as well), and I use my iPad for when I want a computer that is cozy, but not for reading.
So, I vote Sony ereader for reading.

L. Darby Gibbs (Elldee)

message 36: by Samantha (new)

Samantha I love my iPad, but not for reading. I much prefer my Nook with its eInk screen. Doesn't hurt my eyes.

message 37: by Ms. Nikki (last edited Mar 10, 2012 10:54PM) (new)

Ms. Nikki I love my ipad over my Sony reader, but I still prefer to read a physical book (No way will I pay a HC or Trade Pb price for an ebook). With the Ipad, I can read on my comp, iphone, or ipod. The selection of books are not an issue, especially if you have Calibre.

message 38: by Mark (new)

Mark Rebecca wrote: "Much less eye fatigue with e-ink. Reading on the iPad results in burning eyes."

Maybe for you. I can read on it all day. Just turn the brightness way down and switch to double column :)

message 39: by Dina (new)

Dina I love my ipad, but not if I'm reading a long book.

message 40: by michelle+8 (new)

michelle+8 I voted on accident. :( I don't have an iPad, but my husband has an Android tablet. I MUCH prefer reading on my Nook rather than his tablet.

message 41: by Devina (last edited Mar 11, 2012 01:27PM) (new)

Devina I Love My kindle, I prefer the e-ink and my eyes don't hurt since it doesn't have a back light though that's a disadvantage when reading at night but I can always get the attachable lamp light on amazon. Kindle all the way! However, I'll always love reading real books than on any e-reader but the drawback it that they aren't as portable like the kindle.

message 42: by Danielle (new)

Danielle I only own a kindle fire but I love it! I don't feel the need for an I-pad. I don't normally use the apps on my kindle except sometimes to go online to look up something or update GoodReads, or occassionally have Pandora playing in the background while I read. I like how the e-ink looks on other ereaders but if I read with the black background with white text, It doesn't bother my eyes. Plus I put the brightness all the way down unless I'm outside, then I turn it up because it reduces glare.

message 43: by C. (new)

C. Maybe I am a bit biased, but dealing with the iPad has been easiest for me so far. Haven't tested the Kindle yet though.

message 44: by Imani ♥ ☮ (new)

Imani ♥ ☮ Love the Kindle Fire. It does practically everything an iPad does and it's way less expensive. Plus, it's really cute :)

message 45: by The Pirate Ghost (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) Typically, I use the fire for multi-media, if you are a member of Amazon Prime, there are a lot of good shows and movies free, or at low cost. I do read on it, but I prefer my kindle 3G(wi-fi) for reading. The Fire has a lot of uses, from alarm clock to radio to, Tv and yes, you can read too. The video is primo though!

message 46: by Katie (new)

Katie I LOVE my Nook!!! I wouldn't trade it for the world!

message 47: by Tarun (new)

Tarun I like the way the iPad's screen is touch based. I only have a kindle (original) to compare it to so the iPad is the easiest to use.

message 48: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Yim I have an iPad, my husband has a Kindle. I much prefer my iPad as the screen is larger and easier to read. I bought the bluetooth keyboard cover from Brookstone for it, and now it's also great for writing when I'm away home and don't want to lug my computer around, and being able to check my email or surf the web when I need to research something in the middle of a writing project is great!

message 49: by Glenn (new)

Glenn Cheney I like to read articles from The Atavist (see atavist.com) on the iPad because they include all sorts of photos, videos, links, chronographs, footnotes, etc. Once I read a whole book on my iPhone (I was in Africa; there was nothing else to read.) and I really got to like it. It's so easy to curl up under a blanket (it was cold) and read in there. I don't have a Kindle, and frankly I'd be reluctant to buy one because Amazon is getting too powerful in the digital book area, and it's already started abusing that power.

message 50: by Stephen Mcintosh (new)

Stephen Mcintosh Kindle > iPad
$99 < $599

I think I'll take the kindle
