I love reading on my Kindle.. I use my hubby's tablet for back up.. But 100% Kindle. When I absolutely love a book, I will also buy it in paperback form...

I love my Kindle. I have all my books from Amazon so an iPad is not such a good idea for me.I just bought the new Kindle Fire HD and love it.
Have iPad but am Nook fan for serious reading. Have Nook Simple Touch with glow light. Any Nook fans that can comment on new Nook HD and HD+?
I love my Kindle Fire for everything but it's definitely great for reading but I will always love to read the old fashion way, real books(paperback or hardcover doesn't matter).
I love my Kindle, but i don't use it very much because my mom won't let me take it to school, so i still mostly read dead-tree books.
I had an Android tablet for a couple of years that I used to try and read on, but there were too many other things I could be doing (web browsing, playing games, installing apps) that I barely ever read anything. Then I bought a Kindle (touch) and now I'm reading more than ever, and have since sold the tablet as I hardly touched it anymore!
I have a nexus 7 by asus. I can read books from google, B&N and amazon. I can also go online, check my mail and other things. It is only Wi-Fi. Eventually, I will be albe to tether of my phone if I want more options. Personally, I don't know if that will ever be necessary cause it's great the way it is.I can read white on black or black on white.
It has many options in applications.
So, I am very happy with it.
Oh. I can also order magazines and the like as well.
I love my kindle! Can't believe how hard headed I was about getting one, best investment I've made in a long time
I also love my Kindle. They can get rid of the TV, but as long as I have my computer and my Kindle, I am happy.I bought my Kindle last summer, and use it all the time.I download free/buy books through Amazon.com and Amazon.ca. Quick and easy. Also I like that Amazon retains a library of all the books you have bought, so when you delete them off your Kindle after reading, you can still bring them back again.I also go under KindleSocial and can choose top 100 free books, that I am interested in.Buying a Kindle was a nobrainer...it was the best investment I did.
Sue, something I am curious about being new to digital reading. I hate getting rid of books so now with Kindle, iBook, eBook, Kobo my question is how does one shelf those read without losing them forever? iBook lets me move on my shelves and one can see this or that book is read but if I try to archive it only gives me a delete book option on Kindle!! Magazines are great as they archive and then take no space til they are activated again to view.
Any tips gratefully received.
Hi Sharon:I can only speak for the Kindle, as that is the device that I use.I have alot of books to read on my Kindle. When I received my Kindle through Amazon.com, I setup my Account. From then on every book I download free/paid that I download on my Kindle, the Kindle retains a copy...that you can retain at any time. After I have read the ebook, I delete the book from my Kindle...but it is still stored on Amazom.com, for future download.I then enter my review on Goodreads, and use the categories under Goodreads(Read/To read/currently reading)to sort my shelves. This is the process that I follow and it works great for me.Hope this helps.
Thanks Sue, it does as I read Kindle and through Amazon.com too. As I read on my iPad and iPhone, I also use iBook a lot. It is excellent and often better price and quicker for European authors. EBook and Kobo I use rarely...but all on my iPad.
Thanks very much for the tips.
I love my Sony PRS-505 I bought used from ebay. It's mu constant companion. I did just but a cheap little Android tablet for myself ( early Christmas gift) and I've downloaded the Kindle and Kobo apps so I can read all those special bargain (free) books I've been getting from Amazon. I like them both, but the battery lasts much, much longer on the Sony505
I don't know why they don't include the most popular devices. Android tablets. There are more of those out there than iPads. I use my Nexus 7, thank you very much!
I don't have an e-reader yet, but plan to get one soon. I had planned on getting a Kindle and got the Kindle Ap on my phone, but found that in the Republic of Ireland where I live, I can't buy Kindle books through Euro, I have to buy them through US Currency. This costs me more as my debit card provider then charges me for converting currency. I got the Kobo Ap on my phone yesterday and I have decide to get a Kobo e-reader, as they will deal with me through Euro, and I have found them a joy to deal with.
Aside from which READER one uses, iPad takes them all. There are apps for all readers! For free...But why one might want to make a different choice about where you buy your books has just a new twist this calendar year as lovely Amazon.com adds a new rule that prices vary according to the country you live in. Now, hilarious. Is anyone dumb enough to think it costs them more on Whispernet to send a digital book to various places? But my book went from 12 to 18$! Shocking from a company that manages to a have a hold on kindle and sales that rock the charts but still manages to avoid paying taxes!
Love my kindle for reading during day, but iPad is good for reading at night. also has more options for when travelling.
Still using my 1st gen kobo and bought wife her own kobo Touch for her birthday. For simplicity and affordable/design, the kobo (for us) is a no brainer.I won't buy a DRM restricted device, as I like to manipulate and edit my own EPUB files with sigil. :)

I completely agree Scott. We share the same scenario. Scott wrote: "Since I got the Fire for Christmas I find myself using my iPad less and less. I have compartmentalized the Fire as a Kindle in my mind and not a general purpose tablet. It's strictly for reading an..."
Before I got my Kindle I would have said iPad. but now I say Kindle... but now there is a iPad mini who knows. It's more about the size and the weight than anything.
I tried the Nook and the Kindle and decided on the Kindle. My daughter uses my account on her IPad. While we were in the car we were both reading, suddenly she exclaimed "what?" and grabbed my Kindle from me. She could not believe the difference. She found my Kindle so much easier on her eyes, she nows wants a Kindle. I also read on my IPhone at work...and it is okay for short term use.
I much prefer my Kindle for reading.
I have a first generation kindle, a kindle fire & a kindle app out of the three I love my first generation kindle best. The battery life on it is better than the others by far.Can I ask, does anyone else find this? I was shocked when the fire didn't kick the readers butt
I have a NOOK Touch. It works great. It's easy to hold. No distractions. I have a laptop for internet, etc. I don't need internet on every device I have. Have it on my phone too. No eye strain! I can also increase the font size ,and not have to wear my reading glasses.Anyway....... Less is more!
iPad is too big to read on comfortably..
I like my kindle but still like holding a book. I use my kindle or nexus when at the beach or traveling-much lighter. But you can't beat walking into a book store. Yesterday I Went to the Mystererious Bookstore in Manhattan and was in awe. What a great place! It,s sad that we have few privately owned bookstores left.
Now that I have a Kindle (for a year and a half I just had an iPad) I never read eBooks on my iPad. eInk is so much more pleasant. :)
I love the Kindle Fire...much better than the first Kindle I had. If I was in a pinch and didn't have my Kindle with me, I would use my iPhone. The iPad is just too awkward as a reader.
Kindle Fire, by far! Light, convenient, decent battery life, and works in the dark. Can't beat the original Kindle for reading in sun, though. I find the iPAD unwield when reading in bed or on the plane (too large and heavy), although it is of course great for lots of other things. To comment on previous posts, I understand suspicion of large companies and the worry that they will abuse their power as their marketshare increases. As far as I have seen (and maybe there is a lot I am missing), Amazon has made efforts to reduce prices on e-books but been stymied by the book publishers. So in this case I trust Amazon. At the same time, I shop in my local bookstore whenever there is something I would like in print.
Progressing from ipad to Kindle, I prefer the Kindle...easier on the eyes, and less temptation for me to stop reading and hit the games or internet.
Kindle is awesome, but I prefer the e-ink ones. The fire is awesome, but I have a tablet for that stuff. The Kindle e-ink readers provide page like quality.
